It's a lot easier for both teams in a competitive setting to just start a fresh game, allow whatever goals to be given, and run the clock to the point of a proven/legit DC.
In my opinion, there are too many variables for them to implement a proper reconnect feature.

it's easier in hockey. The player flew out - the bot went to the bench, entered the AI game.
The player reconnected - And returned to the bench, the player's bot entered the game.
