The biggest issue with this system, in my opinion, is that you can only report content. You can't report behaviors. Seeing an "offensive" name might irk some people (and I'm not against banning flagrant names), but gameplay is what actually ruins the experience of the game, not seeing words you don't like.
A goalie can skate out of the net repeatedly, or a skater can repeatedly take penalties with no recourse. Teams can spend an entire game ragging the puck, and other grossly unsportsmanlike behavior. I presume this is because EA would have to actually have someone take the time to look into recorded footage and make a subjective decision, which takes resources, no matter how small.
@Rodgerwilco91 Spot on man it's the behavior that we should be able to ban playing a team or block all together. The hitting and just getting penalty after penalty. I know it is much easier to beat this team that is doing this but what fun is playing the game and winning by10 if it takes 5 times as long to complete because of all of the whistles and the clock slowing down. I hate that teams will get a one goal lead and just rag the puck forcing us to have to overly forecheck just so they can cherry pick to a guy waiting up the blue line. I would name the teams that do it but we are not allowed to do that here. 6's Club games

I would love to see a more robust reporting system covering a range of things beyond offensive content. I wonder if the NHL series would do well with a skater rep level for drop-ins. After the match the players could thumps up or down a teammate. Maybe a formula that involves the players approval, rep going up for completing games and going down for quitting early, something slightly stat related or maybe related to the coach percentages(that's all a bit iffy though). Do that for a year and collect some data to see just where the games population is at. If it seems appropriate you could start weighing the matchmaker to try and pair like reputations so the bad apples can just waste all their own time.
