Self sauce

Hello everyone,

I have a question about the self sauce with the puck.

When you are defending and you trying to make a poke check, your player are getting slower.

But when a person with the puck making a self sauce, he is not getting slower.

Normally when you do something with your stick, you should getting slower or is my thinking wrong?

greetings from germany

  • @EA_Aljo You could have fooled anyone back in NHL 22. Everyone did it even if you told them otherwise so obviously they felt differently. Gamechangers and Esporters all used it. I believe it was even said to slow a player down but that didn't prove to be correct at all.

This wouldn't be the first time people believed something was in the game that wasn't. I had the self sauce used against me many times. Rarely did it ever make a difference.

Self sauce 100% jars the A.I. D. The few frames they deal with the loose puck allows the saucer to blow past them and re-obtain it.

That said, the self sauce doesn't actually give a speed boost like others are claiming.

Regarding the skill stick, it absolutely allowed the skater to move quicker from certain angles. If a player was in DSS and instructed a 45-degree cut, the number of frames to cover that distance is LESS than if a player wasn't in DSS and the different skating animations that were triggered outside of DSS. Those animations, used to show differential in player movement as it pertains to their given trajectory, absolutely increased the number of frames to cover that distance.

It's a very subtle advantage but it was there.
