Series S/X issues
Sorry, it's me again...(trust me, I'm tired of griping too), but....
Why is it so hard just to just sit down enjoy NHL 23/24, specifically HUT?
I'm about ready to pack it in with NHL Series altogether. Which is a shame since I've played for a long, long time.
I really don't want to, but it's no longer fun when every time you fire it up, it's ridiculously unfair.
I currently play on both an Xbox Series S and X and perhaps there is some issue with next gen consoles, but it plays terribly entirely too often. I'd say at least half the time; maybe more.
I will readily admit I do play it waaaay too much. But I'm a hockey fan through and through and quite enjoy it when it's not acting up, but that's getting to be rare.
I am no superstar, but managed to make it high div 3 in Rivals this year and can usually get 9-11 wins in champs. Confident I could do even better if it didn't play so crazy half the time.
I've tried everything I know to solve it and I've even experienced this in the 24 playtesting, so not holding out much hope it'll be fixed in near future.
Now, when I mean unfair, I am talking ridiculously obvious things that are much, much more than just a skill gap. I'm saying literally unable to compete.
Examples:
Opponent feels like on speed compared to me (zero time/space)
Ridiculously outshot
Ridiculously out TOA'd
passing % at least 10% or more lower than opponent (thus erratic passing)
lot of interference penalties against (even if not controlling)
slow players in comparison
complete inability to defend (skating circles around me and puck pokes just bounce right back to opponent)
garbage/own goals
Things done to try fix:
adjust strategies/lineups
Recommended usual power cycle of router/console/tv, game settings, etc.
Wired ethernet (FYI - 300/150 fiber)
proper ports forwarded for Open NAT
Manually set DNS
Clear mac address
Different controllers wired or wireless
Different ISPs
Different displays/resolutions
It's especially bad this past week (worse than usual)
Is it bad matchmaking, is it server load/proximity/availability? I normally have crossplay off, so not sure it's that.
FYI - I do not see this in other game modes.
Squad Battles is usually fine (although sometimes laggy or at least players seem slowed down occasionally).
HUT Friendly is normally great. Supposedly p2p though. However, even in there occasionally I've seen this unfair play too.
WOC I normally just see a lotta lag; not this erratic gameplay (would actually like to play it more, but feel my lag would hinder others)
Does any one have any kind of a solution or explanation? If not, I think I need to call it a career.
