@rsandersr47We all dream of a better reality for our beloved games, but we also need to accept the reality that is front of us. Do I think NHL 23 is a great game? It's average at best with lots of things that need changed and I'm only talking from an EASHL POV on this. I've said the changes and such I have wanted. I'm gonna wait for NHL 24 to showcase what they are bringing to the table to see if it fits MY needs. If I feel I'll get another 200+hrs of enjoyment out of the game then I will buy it Day 1. If a game doesn't meet my standards then I simply don't buy it. No one is forced to buy a product they don't like to, but instead they choose to. Like you want some story to go with your created player in the EASHL and I respect that, but for me that isn't my desire. I just want better gameplay and more than anything I want them to give me 120fps/2k or even 120/1080 graphic mode on the next-gen systems. I want the product I'm actually controlling to be the best experience because that is what I am playing 500+ games of. For me a story just falls flat and would probably not get changed yearly.
Also your suggestion of charging to increase your player slightly to start. Thing is that money would go into investor pockets and not back into the game. Just like the Ultimate Team money made. It doesn't get funneled back into the game how you would want it to. There was an article years ago that said how that type of money goes into funding new projects, marketing, and most of all investors. Games for the most part are based on the actual amount of units they predict to sell in certain periods of time. We have CEOs of companies making too much money for doing next to nothing when the real talent making the games goes underpaid and underappreciated

People love to praise the NBA 2K series, but if you go and check out their reddit and such they aren't happy either. The PC version still isn't getting the next-gen update. So they getting a copy n paste of the current version with roster changes and missing features. Then their new addition The City for the created player stuff. Yeah check out the reaction to that here.. https://www.reddit.com/r/NBA2k/comments/14tf9ti/is_the_city_the_worst_change_that_2k_has_ever/
People are always gonna complain about games but the truth is NHL doesn't even make a PC version and 2K is far from a copy and paste like any EA game. A new city, a new story, a new way to build your character, their franchise gets a story, much deeper ultimate team mode, every year they give QOL changes that people ask for... in EASHL we got a few new clothes, BAP got the same story, HUT has the same challenges every year, EASHL doesn't even get new arenas/ ODR's. NHL gets around 3 changes per year, usually 1 mode gets an update. Id be curious to know what they're doing differently. The negative people will always be the vocal majority and 2K sells FAR more copies so it makes sense to have more negative people. They also made the game a bit more defensive this year and that made a lot of people upset.
Avg at best is even a stretch imo.. outside of MLB it's the only game that doesn't have an online franchise mode. Franchise is also riddled with bugs, and not as user friendly as I'd like. Compared to ANY other major sports game this has the worst development path for players, look how you upgrade players in Madden, 2k, fifa. BAP is the worst single player mode amongst all major sports games. BAP has almost no story, your captain gives you pointless challenges before games, player development is poorly done. HUT is the worst ultimate team among all sports games. The challenges? Win 5 faveoffs, have 3 hits, score 2 goals. Fun? No. Madden has far more entertaining challenges and you learn about historic teams and players while playing. It's also much more fun to upgrade cards within their system. EASHL drops is filled with lots of bugs and riddled with trolls. Club is done fairly well it is cool to progress the club and get a bigger stadium.. just gotta deal with rangers. I only really enjoy the game because I like hockey.
- KlariskraysNHL3 years agoHero@rsandersr47 NBA 2K23 sold over 10mil copies. NHL at it's peak i think was selling around 1.5mil copies. The real NBA has esport teams they also use to help promote the game, but of course it doesn't look very NBA-ish in terms of play. NHL is low on the popularity chain and when doing research about potential sales is how they determine budgets.

The copy n paste comment was about the PC version of 23 to 24. - rsandersr473 years agoSeasoned Ace
@KlariskraysNHLYeah I knew what the copy and paste comment was suggesting. I just wanted to point out how EA is worse in this department as all their games are cut and paste and they don't have a PC version at all.
My suggestion was to show ways NHL could make more money and you said it wouldn't help the game but now we're talking about NBA making more because they sell more copies? I guess I just dont understand how both of those can work.. personally I say NBA is better because it makes more money.. but it's also making so much because it's a lot better. Look at NHL vs NBA sales since NBA 2K started making games and how the gap just keeps growing. It's clear the company invests in their game. They're also okay with taking a year off if people are upset enough (see WWE 2K) - KlariskraysNHL3 years agoHero@rsandersr47 There is a ton of ways they could make some profits off the EASHL community if they did it like the NBA 2K way and I'd be fine with it.
