Strategies in NHL 23
Are they going to fix strategies in the game so we can go back and edited them like we did in previous games? (picture I’ve provided.)

Also, speaking of strategies not working properly, the game automatically uses wingers in Penalty Kill faceoff, no matter how you set it up in the edit lines menu (both prior to a game, or directly in-game). Center always goes to the wing, and the winger takes the faceoff...on PENALTY KILL ! (Seems to affect Franchise Mode only, because...of course it does !)
This game is absolutely terrible, and I haven’t even tried to play yet. Bought it the day it came out, once I realized strategies didn’t work I went back to nhl 22. I would like to return it but since I didn’t buy the disc I’m stuck with this garbage. What’s worse is there is no one at ea to complain to, because they don’t give 2 PUCKS! They got their 70$ from me for the last time. I’ve been buying this game since it originally launched back on sega genesis,
- @27-flyers-27 Yup the only “excuse” they’ve given us so far is EA Aljo said the reason we can’t edit strategies is because “we aren’t the head coach” yet we are able to edit lines… edit PP roles… set hot dog prices, upgrade the bathrooms… all responsibilities that ARENT the GM’s… so EA Aljo’s excuse doesn’t make any sense…
Strategies are still completely broken… and we’re locked out from even trying to fix them… nearly 120 replies with very few posts from EA… Now that the offersheet bug is covered by the upcoming patch, this needs to be addressed.
- @KomicJ The sad reality for me is I feel like it’s never going to be how it was BUT not going to give up and hope you’re right. They’re probably too busy working on the cross play to care
- @KomicJ Well according to quite a few players, the head coach strategies being stuck bug isn’t actually fixed…. So we’ll have to see if the offer sheet bug is actually fixed…
At this point expectations are extremely low… And worse yet, the 1-3-1 power play formation is basically gone from franchise after the patch. I have tried creating a new franchise multiple times with multiple teams. Even with teams that run a 1-3-1 in real life. It just alternates between shooting or overload for the powerplay now. And none of the available coaches have the 1-3-1 as their preferred power play strategy. Sure I can set it as my power play formation for played games but it will never be your head coaches preferred strategy.
What I noticed was before the patch most of the coaches preferred power play strategy was blank. So most franchise saves we’re using the 1-3-1 set up as their preferred PP strategy. So it’s essentially gone for the user. Some CPU teams still seem to run it, but if you hire their coach it always comes out as shooting or overload.
Somehow they managed to break this with the last patch and now the one “BIG” add we get for franchise is gone.
I hate to say but I have zero faith in this game this year, and quite frankly I am already over it.

Same with editing strategies.. as we know the reason “we’re not the coach” makes absolutely zero sense since we edit lineups, hot dog prices etc etc.. is the reason we were locked out of it because of all the bugs with it that still aren’t fixed? - They’ve known for a while
- @heavydutyrammer They know, they released the game this way, contact for a refund for false advertising
- @jb24242424 I’ve been asking for the reason why the locked us out of editing players mostly.. and if they will unlock it for us… even askinf EA Aljo for months.. or even a year at this point and they just ignore my question each time
I’m assuming we were locked out of strategies because of the bugs, that they knew about but didn’t say.. and instead EA Aljo used the “you’re not the coach” excuse to cover up, because that doesn’t make any sense lol… - EA_Aljo
I don't have any details on why this change was made and chances are good I won't. If I do get them, I'll report back.

When I asked about this, the answer I provided is what I was given. If I get any other details on this, I'll relay them.
- @EA_Aljo The information you were given was that you don't have any details on why the change was made and you probably never will. That is not an answer- they refused to answer you is what you are telling us. If they don't want you to know, then it is most likely they don't want us to know - not that they are personally spiteful toward you.

Is that why Franchise Mode edit lines isn’t working right now? Are we locked out because we aren’t the coach? It wouldn’t make sense to lock strategies and leave edit lines unlocked… because after all, we aren’t the coach so really we shouldn’t be able to edit lines either right - @heavydutyrammer If you are the GM you also shouldn't be able to play games since you're not the players. Sim or watch only.

I was only just playing yesterday and what the coach sets to what I would said just makes it ridiculous. Can’t even open up the ice - @Andochiefs Yeah it’s such a stupid poor decision they made.. and on top of the poor decision they just break more things with each patch.. the patches don’t even include fixes, just more bugs lol.. for offline modes anyways
