Are they going to fix strategies in the game so we can go back and edited them like we did in previous games? (picture I’ve provided.)

You’re not the coach, but you do still get to decide who plays on what line and players will come to you to complain about ice time. We also assign you a random coach and don’t offer any replacement options. Also, you are only the GM, but make sure the facility is maintained. Not a shot at you @EA_Aljo , but this sure is some kind of EA logic.

@EA_Aljo , that’s fine and all. The problem is when you fire your coach, and hire a new one the strategies DO NOT change to the new coaches preferences.that means we are stuck with the same default strategies of our first coach for the duration of franchise mode. That means that if I have a defensive coach but want to switch to an offensive strategy set I cannot, no matter who I hire.at least last year I could manually change my line strategies and defensive instructions to match my new coach.how do you guys not see this as a problem?

Everyone at EA listening to them: Yeah, that sounds good, because I’ve never thought of anything in this game beyond the surface level. I’m sure no one will be upset. I'm not sure I understand this. Coach tasks include determining who plays on what line, yet the user can still edit lines. Once the game starts users can change strategies, edit lines, and also determine who plays how much...But strategies cannot be edited/saved on a "permanent" basis? This completely lacks logic. Hypothetically, this is the equivalent of not allowing a user to select offensive and defensive playbooks in Madden because of the coach you have in Franchise.This is bad change, and should be corrected.

The "you're not the head coach" excuse makes absolutely no sense. We're not the players either, yet we can still control them and play in-game.It's just a badly implemented idea, from the start. I get that EA wants the coaches we hire to influence the game. But removing the ability to set our own strategy isn't the way to go. It never was. Coaches should have ratings, just like players, where they are better in certain scheme, not so good in others. That would make a lot more sense than forcing us to play a system we don't like.

@KingPyrrhus981 I am having the same issue as you I will fire my coach, and I can hire a new one and the strategies don’t change same thing happens if I promote an assistant coach to head coach vacancy it’s still stuck on the fired coaches strategy the patch they put out did nothing

First time caller (poster), long time player. There have been a ton of issues RE: strategies in Franchise Mode. Is there any chance that EA will patch in a "Lamoriello Mode" where I can set my own strategies? This is a change to the mode that is entirely unnecessary for those of us that play Franchise mode and actually play the games. The generated coaches strategies suck and make this mode borderline unplayable. Lots of chatter online looking for something like this but I haven't seen anything from EA acknowledging this.

Thanks, a brief look through this thread makes it look like there is no motivation to make this change on the EA side unless I'm missing something. Glad I waited until Black Friday to buy so I can return the game and go back to playing 22.

I've still been playing nhl 22 and Madden 23 since nhl 23 came out after finding out about the strategy stuff. At least the Madden team knows how to make a Franchise mode.
I just redownloaded the trail for nhl 23 earlier to see if they fix it a big waste of 30 mins lol.

What’s funny is they asked/sent me a link to the survey and when I mentioned strategies they asked me specifically asked if I knew what strategies were!
It is disappointing it’s frustrating. I like to play aggressive and have it turned up to the max. You can edit strategies in a game just not maintaining those changes.

I did the same thing. Went back to 22. EA has no intentions of fixing the coaching strategies.

Seriously I’d wait on NHL if franchise mode became anything like MYGM.
If only franchise mode was this good
