Try creating a new lineup. Do not copy your current lineup. Manually add the players to the new lineup and then set it to active. Now, try editing that squad and let me know if it works or not. Thank you.

I'm having the exact same issue. Everytime I try to save changes when adding players individually on a fresh new lineup, even using players I've never used before, the moment I try to save changes, the error code pops up and says failed to retrieve data, resets the game back to the homepage.
I've literally tried everything. Aljo is trying to help in some of the other threads, however, I've tried every single troubleshooting step he has suggested and every other you can imagine including deleting/creating new profile, deleting/re-installing NHL 23, cleared local saved games, cleared cache, cleared MAC Address, full reboot of everything the proper way waiting 15 minutes before plugging in and powering up amd lastly, but not least, a suggestion by Microsoft Support, created a brand new Microsoft and EA Account and made xbox mandatory home, loaded up NHL 23 and even with a brand new account with a brand new starter pack, the same thing happens.....I havent been able to play since Sunday morning

Another gamer me this tip and it worked!
"Create a new lineup and autofill based on overall. you should be able to save the team at that point. then go back to your lineups and delete the old lineup. from there you should be able to save and change the new lineup."

I tried it and it doesn't work. How to create a new report, delete the previous one, save. Nothing works.
This needs to be fixed somewhere at your place. I won't do anything about it. Can't play. Thank yout

Did you set the new lineup to active? That is a step often missed.
I have exactly the same problem for the second week. As the previous ones have said, I have also done everything that was listed there.
And yes, lineup is active.
I've contacted EA, filed an error report, etc. But no one answers, and I can't find any help. Could someone please fix this or find out what is causing it as it seems many others are having the same problem.
And you can't change the tactics either, because there you get the same error as on the lineup side.
Someone help, impossible to continue playing in HUT mode.Yes of course. this procedure does not work for me. I've had a new active roster for quite some time now and it's always active. can you please fix it firt? it's really a big problem. can't continue. I can't redeem rewards. Thank you

Do you happen to have any of the Red Wings TOTW players on your lineups? If so, try removing them and let me know if that helps.
