@KIJHLPhenom14 EA don’t “decide” to release these games nor can they decide not to release them. They have a contract with the NHL to release them. Not doing so because its broken/not ready is breach of contract
The contract isn't inclusive though and any other company can get rights to the license. The contract is sorely for the Rosters and Jersey's only, not the actual game. This is why we see some players not on the roster updates due to the fact they haven't played yet. They can decide to release or not release the game. Other titles that have licensed contracts can do it also. GTA V has Rockstars license and that game is old! They have just been updating the game to keep interest. EA NHL can do the same.

Having yearly releases is normal in a contract between developers and sporting bodies like the NHL or FOM (Formula One Management) Using GTA as an example is bad as Rockstar literally OWN the GTA brand and are in full control of what’s released apart from any content such as the music on the radio stations (eg “Photograph” by Def Leppard). Sports games are different where licences and contracts are involved. EA just cannot decide to stop making them, their backsides would be in court before I hit the send button 🤣

Obviously, so as not to lump all of the game developers, programmers, etc., together, I absolutely respect what I've seen from the very long franchises (Ubisoft, Massive, Rocksteady, Naughty Dog, etc.), especially when their communities make them aware that changes to their games need to be made. And even though mistakes will be made, corrections eventually come to fruition. Unfortunately, and for this series, the glaringly obvious remains the same: an overpriced mess of bugs and ridiculous game mechanics. Apparently, Cyberpunk 2077 is now where it should be, and this series is going backwards.
