why can't I play couch co-op in HUT

whenever i try to play a single player mode like exhibition in hut and my girlfriend signs into her profile to play it says i need PSPLUS to play. this makes no sense for 2 reasons. We aren't trying to play online just an exhibition game against the CPU and my main account which i play under doesn't have PSPLUS yet i can play an exhibition game bymyself. This was never a problem in previous why remove it?

i am having the SAME issue as last year. i contacted sony and they said it's not on there end as the mode i am trying to play is a SINGLE PLAYER MODE that DOES NOT require PSPLUS
