Why doesn’t the offline opponent shoot?

I’ve been getting angry over this for quite sometime. Most shots I’ve ever faced in a period during franchise mode has been 5-6. I just finished another game where the CPU opponent only took 9 shots with 4:54 time on attack. I myself have 18 over 6:08. 
Side note to what I’m complaining about, how come AI teammates never set up to shoot? They’re either crashing the net and keep skating past the net or never set their bodies up to receive a pass or to even shoot a one-timer. I’ve set the strategies to either overload (which in the past worked beautifully in NHL20) or crash the net and neither seem to do the trick. Is this because the only way to score in this game is to speed skate past the defender and wrap it around the goalie?? That gets boring quick. I want to set up passing plays like in real life. Not being able to connect a 2 on 1 cross crease because the other teammate wants to go look the opposite way is disheartening. Please fix this
