I don't think AI is far enough along in the game to be truly sporadic where it would possibly play the same movement differently.
Only solution I ever had for changing up goalies was to get rid of the set animations for goalies and give each limb a range of movement to cover and how well it can be covered. There should be real life data that could help with that too.
Also something that is huge to me is that aiming for corners just don't miss the net enough. I truly want to be able to just miss the net aiming for a snipe shot. I rock like 76-78 accuracy and the amount of times I can place the puck in great areas just shouldn't happen. So the shooting aspect also needs a rework.
Thanks for all the feedback. For sure appreciate it!
The problem with having goalies adapt is that if a team goes for the same shot over and over again, it probably means they're going to be more prepared for that shot. All a team needs to do then is change up their play and have an easier chance scoring differently. For example, if they spend all game going far side and in the 3rd go for the short side, it might be something to be exploited. However, it's also on the opposing players to recognize this and adapt. Regardless, goalies are incredibly complex. I understand they have their faults, but making them behave completely like a real human is probably not going to happen anytime soon. I imagine there's always going to be higher percentage ways to score.

This problem can be solved by setting different behavior for goalkeepers.
Last year we had one behavior that can be transferred to the nhl 23.
MARC-ANDRE FLEURY (ALL OR NOTHING) had his own behavior when he was thrown out, played extremely aggressively.
MIKE SMITH has his own behavior.
Probably, there are still special behaviors.
In total, having a list of different behaviors that can be included randomly, yes, there may be frosted goals in each match, but there may be more different goals over a long distance.
You can give the opportunity to change the setup strategies for the goalkeeper in the menu, ask him to play aggressively, or keep the short side.
In addition, it is necessary to refine the poke check goalie animations. Now he's just poking in the air, if, like skaters, there would be an auto aim on pack, the goalkeeper would be able to prevent many of the same close goals - EA_Aljo2 years ago

Thanks for the input. I know we've had requests in the past to be able to do some customization to your AI players. I'll pass on the feedback.
- KlariskraysNHL2 years agoHero+@bruanor09 Here is the thing with giving goalies behavior. There will be like 3 methods people try to see which one someone is using then after the 1st period they exploit it. Smart players know to do things like this just like they would figuring out how a team tries to defend.
When coming up with ideas you got to think how would a "sweat player" go about it. If it's easily figured out then it probably isn't something investing the effort into. I mean cause most of these fixes people want are because of that type of player.
