How does downgrading a connection from a wired high speed connection to a wireless mobile data Hotspot offer ANY kind of fix?
The game works poorly at the best of times - and server connections are already hit or miss - complete joke - and we are not amused.
Take the last 2x MP XP weekend.
Game fires up, go to WoC lobby. Cool. It worked. Slog through the 8 menu screens, finally get to select your position/build, hit "start matchmaking".
Only half the lobby loads. Fail 1.
Reboot the system. Let's do this again.
Reload in, slog the same 8 menu screens to get back to said point you were just at.
Lobby loads both sides this time, timer locks up, lose connection to EA servers. Reboot again.
Slog back through the 8 menu screens. Doesn't even GET to a lobby this time, error message with 40 million zeros - you know the fail message I mean. Yet ANOTHER Reboot.
Slog back in AGAIN. Say screw this, play 1 game of 3s Elim just to make sure the CONNECTION works - hey! 30ms, works awesome.
Back to DI. Slog through the 8 menu screens, lobby finally loads. Timer works, but what's this? 285ms connection? But wtf, I just played a game at 35ms? (I'm hard wired in, on a Cat 6 100GB transfer rate cable. IF and WHEN game functions, it's a flat green line. You know how often it STAYS like that? NEVER.) Suffer through a lag spiked, choppy game, get to the end, no RP, nothing counted.
And there is NO sense reaching out to EA/SONY/Microsoft, because separately, not a single one of them has a clue, and it ends up being 4 days of diagnostics that are totally unnecessary, because in the end, it's gonna be OUR fault.
Forget the fact that I can send the entire US defense department information over my network without a single shred of packet loss, yet I can't stay connected to the EA server for more than 10m without an issue.
So all total so far, to play ONE DI game - about 90m invested. And this is CONTINUOUS. And before I start hearing about server locales/remote locations, etc, I am less than 30m from the QC server. Not a damn lick of difference does that make. Although, it is sworn as gospel that it affects the outcome, I will look you square in the face and yell "shenanigans".
After all was said and done - that 2xMP weekend was a bust, as it is NEVER easy to get an actually working game that functions as advertised for the duration of a single game. The amount of time that is wasted trying to get this hot mess to work is NOT worth the $90 ($107.99 for XF edition) overinflated price tag it carries. Never again will I pay full price for ANYTHING EA. Wait for 2 weeks after launch, when the entire community is up in arms over yet another failed attempt, EA puts the title on sale.
I can go on for HOURS about the state of things in the EA camp - but, for the sake of brevity, I won't. I have NOTHING nice to say about it.
Sports games are what gave EA its market share, and it will also be their downfall. Stop trying to expand your repertoire, at least until your board table understands that in order to move up into the advanced stuff, you have to master the basics first.
And you haven't. At ALL.
As I said, it was only as a test. This helps narrow down where we need to focus our troubleshooting.
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo I'd start with the servers and go from there. ALL of our problems stem from your end, no matter what the server status says.
Absolutely no reason to hold a 35ms connection, with 1440ms spikes. When nothing else - game, phone, computer, TV, etc., experiences ANY kind of stutter/lag. At all. Ever. It is ONLY the NHL series that does this. Even fully active FPS games work flawlessly on my connection. So MY network IS NOT the problem.- EA_Aljo3 years ago

We're not noticing any issues on our end currently, but will surely keep monitoring them. If you want to go through any troubleshooting, please let me know.
- 3 years ago@EA_Aljo Sorry - but I could literally take a 9hour video of all of the WoC connection issues, and post it directly - but it wouldn't change anything, as I already know I would get the laundry list of EAs "fixes" - as I suffered a CE-34878-0 error last year, and was made, by EA support, to reinitiate my system, which was completely unnecessary.
It was a simple fix - delete saved data, and reparse.
Needless to say, even if I projected said video on the side of the Empire State building, 30 million people would see it, and upvote it as being correct and a shared experience, but not see an acknowledgement from EA in any way to address what is being visually presented.
I am NOT the first to post these issues, nor will I be the last. This is a problem, that only EA can address. But, will they? Or are we simply resigned to suffer in quiet indignity, vowing to never spend another dollar in support of EA?
Unfortunately, that is the base choice we are left with. And it leaves a VERY bad taste in the mouth.
