I get it. I'm a dinosaur. The removal of the hybrid controls kills it for me. I can't play any other way. This will be the first year I won't be purchasing the game. I'll stick to 23 and hope they bring back hybrid. I know I'm whining but playing it is clunky and having all the pad buttons do speciality moves is just dumb.

When I read this, I ask myself why remove the hybrid control in the first place? At least there's a very very little hope that it will be back.
I played the beta and hated it. I'm used to the NHL 95 controls, i stopped playing it because i couldn't choose that option.
So did I got it right, there's only the Skill Stick available (for now)?
@Margera09There is the Skill Stick and the new Total Control scheme. Total Control is very different than Hybrid and classic controls, main difference is you aren't able to use the buttons (circle, square, X, triangle on PS5) to pass, wrist shot, slap shot or protect puck when on offense which is where a lot of the outrage is aimed at.

Now how about making the total controls not make it super easy to pull off moves that are complex and hard to do in real life? The total control scheme is just basically dumbing the game down for the little Billy's that have to have all flash and no hockey.
I really wish EA would deal with issues and listen to the community better. Yes they are putting back hybrid controls but no one wanted a new control scheme, just for broken things to be fixed and AI to actually play a somewhat decent style of hockey. Instead they destroyed what was left of playing defense and gave the offense even more overpowered crap so every game can be a 10-9 shootout.
