Can I still really not change my Team Name or Abbreviation once I set it?

Can I still really not change my Team Name or Abbreviation once I set it without deleting my team and losing my players?

This is the craziest thing. 

Other EA sports games have allowed name changes for over a decade, why not NHL?

And if we have unique EA accounts, what's the problem having the same team name as someone else? 

Again, every other EA game I know allows duplicate team names.

If I'm missing something please let me know how this is possible or confirm that I do need to delete my team and lose all my players.
