Can't Shoot the Puck
I hope this hasn't been asked before but here goes. I'm a rookie RW with a 78 rating for the Chicago Blackhawks in Be A Pro. I've been playing since NHL 17 but have never had this happen before or at least don't recall it happening, so thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.
When I have the puck and take a shot there are way too many times when my player lifts his stick as if he's going to crosscheck someone rather than shooting. The puck slides away and the opponent grabs it much to my dismay. I'm merely trying to fire a wrister on goal, so it's not a failed slapshot attempt and many times I have an open lane, so it's not an opponent lifting my stick or poke checking me. Imagine practicing by yourself and rather than shooting the puck you hold your stick perpendicular to your chest for no apparent reason. In previous versions I could shoot from anywhere on the ice. It took me extra practice to get the slapshot down but I could always shoot wristers regardless.
Is this possibly tied to my ratings and I can expect the "glitch" to stop when my puck skills improve? I have the game set to the max on using ratings, which is why I ask. Is this just a glitch that will never go away? Or maybe my timing just isn't there yet? FWIW, I'm leading the league in goals and I always go into a glide before I shoot because I don't have "Make It Snappy" yet.
What am I doing wrong?
Hi there, @Seamhead1967
Welcome to the EA NHL forums!
For your issue with shooting the puck, are you using the Skill Stick controls? You might possibly be accidentally reverse hitting. That happens when you click down on the right stick. I was doing this very frequently myself as the controls changed this year. It's possible that's what you're doing. If that's the case, you could switch to Hybrid or Total Control. You can also go into your console's controller settings and remap the controls. This was my own personal resolution for this so I could keep using the Skill Stick controls.
