Franchise/Custom League/Season/Playoffs Modes
Custom league was a great addition in theory last year. Really glad I could put 30 teams, separate and realign teams and divisions. Changing salary cap and all!
Unfortunately, the core of Franchise mode is broken… numbers of contract set to 25 instead of 50. Potential makes every player 90 rating in one year. There are no Stanley Cup banner rising, no Winter Classic or All Star game generated like older games. It’s not rewarding to play multiple seasons.
I honestly love the gameplay this year, I like spending hours on creating retro rosters. Almost finished my 2007-2008 one with actual contracts, numbers, set of rules ! I wish I could really get the best out of it!
My issues with Custom League/Franchise are :
- Not possible to control every team (requested this for years)
- Not having All Star game (I could see a potential setting where you can edit teams format - North America/Europe, Western vs Eastern or current)
- Winter Classic/Heritage for the 2 teams playing it
- Option to tune down the effect of potential, so if I have a Elite Medium 77 overall, he’s not 90 after one year.
- I’d love to have « era template » for rules, salary cap implemented! That would save time setting up the whole thing. Higher fighting rate, injury occurence, slower game, etc.
- Add injuries (Kirby Dach or Gabriel Landeskog for example where instead of making them 70 overall, being able to have them injured as long as you want. Scrolling from 1 day to 5 days, 1 week to 7 weeks and then 3-4-5-6-7-8-9 months) so the player can comeback the next year!
- Edit players throughout the year within the mode (this has been asked for 10 years… can’t believe it’s still not possible)
- Creating helmet less players (It was a topic in NHL13 and still is)
I like setting the prices for pizza slices, jerseys, tickets. Choosing promo nights is fun. I like having AHL, and other leagues players under contract available. I don’t mind having the possibility to relocate. I hate the part where I have to repair the bathroom for the past 8 years… Budget and scouting is not perfect, but still nice to have.
I like how it’s built but there are many things missing from previous games or as far of quality of life things. There are many things I’ve seen many times for past 10 years that we are still waiting for.
I wish Season Mode would have same possibilities of Custom League, I wish Season Mode could be playable for 1-3-5 years in length option. Same settings as Franchise with low/mid/high scoring. If Franchise is meant to be played using one team, so be it! Just give me all the tools in Custom League within Season Mode.
Playoff mode is another mode where there is absolutely no love for years.
- Edit players (appearance, overall rating, attributes)
- Edit lines is no where to be found. So you have to edit lines before starting the mode, if one of your player is injured you have to edit lines every games.
- Stanley Cup Playoffs/Finals text on the ice (in ALL MODES) it’s already programmed with Rivals and Ones and other typo. I miss the old Playoffs text, it added something special! A different feeling! I know in actual NHL it’s rare it appears as they put ads on the ice. Since there are no ads for the moment, can we get it back?
Please make something happen, make it fun and satisfying to play and win!
Just to add to this, PLEASE ADD 3 STARS selection animation at the end of games just like good old days. It’s just as important as Stanley Cup banner rising in real NHL! It’s good for the fans, good for the players. Can’t see why it’s not in the game anymore when it was all in NHL10.
