The goaltending tether needs to be removed completely. There is no reason for the game to move a player involuntarily.The goaltending job was a challenge the way it was and this has made it to the point people do not want to play goalie this season.I know you want to promote more scoring but tethering the goalie is not the way to do it. The hitting mechanics in the game have been nerfed way too much, I know the hitting last year was over powered, but this is too soft.For those that do not like the total control buttons and prefer skill stick, the hitting mechanics have been really compromised.Defense was tough enough last year when the tuned the skater to slow down when poke checking and now we have softer hitting.

I am glad the tethering is being addressed, this is making goals far to easy as the goalie loses the angle he has moved into.
On the hitting, yes pulling back on the stick before moving forward, but unless I am wrong last year you did not have to move the stick back before making contact.
I am carrying the flag for the poor goalies and defenseman in the world of chel, we need some advantages too..........lol

You didn't previously need to pull the stick back. That was changed for 24.

@MHazz69 So what you are telling me is that Goalies are making mistakes for a change and being scored on for it?!?!? Wow what a horrible game concept. You're right, lets go back to the old school goalies of last year that could stop everything because 6'5" is still an option and they can reach all the way across on onetimers while sitting deep in their net. Lets go back to the game where literally nothing ever goes in because the one spot that 6'5" goalies should be vulnerable to, being the five hole, are covered because auto butterfly saves exist.

While I don't agree with the creating of a new system, AT THE VERY LEAST, it forced goalies to have to do SOMETHING while in their zone rather than practically sit on their goal line and save everything that comes their way or is passed across that isn't a OneTee shot. I would have much rather preferred a lower max height for the created player (6'1 maybe 6'2") or the implementation of a full manual butterfly button to make a save. By that I mean, if you aren't hitting butterfly to make the save, than your goalie tries to save the puck like a 70s stand up goaltender back in the day. This would have forced goalies to go butterfly for shots to protect the five hole and if done at the wrong time, would also make them susceptible to snipes up high. Which, when the old controls come back, will be near impossible to do on any decent goaltender just like it was in 23.

I'm not sure what game you were playing in 23, but goalie still got lit up. My post was about the tethering and how that causes the goalie to lose the position they chose to be in due to the tether. I am all for a goalie being beat by his own decision, but not by a tether moving him out of the position he chose. I am hearing this from guys that have been high level goalies for years. EA is addressing this so apparently there is more that one complaint. You can keep you sarcastic BS to yourself. If you have something constructive to say, then say it and move on. You post sarcastic comments toward people and you don't even know them.

@MHazz69 I did say something constructive. Goalie is so easy to play it is ridiculous. It has been since you were able to sit on the goal line and save everything as a 6'5" in 22, and even earlier than that though not as much. As for the tether system, the player is being beaten by their own decision and not the games. Their decision was to lose control of the left thumbstick and so their goalie was moved back to the centerline. That was their mistake and not the games as people are blaming. Yes I am making sarcastic comments and I apologize for attacking you on it specifically, but at the same time I hearing these complaints from people all the time that in the end, are inaccurate.

"take away the auto hugging of the post" - Its not an auto hug of the post, it is the movement of the thumbstick below the 3 and 9 oclock positions respectively. The player is choosing to do that, most likely, out of panic because the puck is being moved back and forth on them and they do not have thumbstick discipline to move the stick left and right without accidentally making the mistake of going past those 3 and 9 positions and therefore, "auto" hugging the post. If the system was in fact, an "auto hug" like people claim, then the goalie would go into a hugging of the post when the puck got to certain spots or trigger points on the ice. I.E. perhaps it would auto hug the post once the puck was behind the net.

"The tether system is causing my goalie to move on shots" - No, the player is causing the goalie to move because, once again, they did not have the calm mind and steady thumb to remain still on the thumbstick, therefore the thumbstick control was lost and the goalie moved because of it.

Yes of course these "high level goalies for years" are saying this because they liked being able to save everything and carry games. They want to be able to stand still and be out of position saving a one timed puck on the other side of their net because of their 6'5" stature. Just because all of these "high skilled" guys say something doesn't make it necessarily the end all be all. In fact one of the "high skilled" goalies made the argument of, "I want to play one handed again and I want to be able to carry a game". This should not be the way goalie is able to be played, it should be a challenge IMO. There should be a skill gap and in 23, there barely was one. Again I am not saying I agree with the creation of a new goalie system but I do think it did something correct in making goalie a tougher position to play for people and allows for more sniping on goalies who make mistakes which has resulted in wide variety of goals being scored for a change.

I will agree that some posts are not constructive and are sarcastic and more just ranting with little substance to back up their concern or criticism. I appreciate you explaining your position on it, I know opinions will vary on that but that's what makes for good conversation. I think the final post you made here makes sense and may even help some with the issues that have with the new controls. Thanks for the feedback I appreciate it.

Hitting mechanic is actually great, it finally requires skill and timing. The ones complaining either simply miss the overpowered and easy hitting of just holding up on the stick or are unaware of the new mechanic.
My only gripe would be the slight underpowered outcome of the hits. Players recover from hits faster than 23 and injuries are not only less frequent but short duration when they do occur. If hitting is going to be as challenging as it is(which i do enjoy) please up the reward for being a skilled hitter. More winded get ups and stamina drain at the very least.
I think hip check logic needs to be toned down. Currently small players bump the BACK of a power forwards knee and send him flying.

I have never read a stranger message. 🙂)) if I have chosen a position and am in it, I do not have to constantly fight to maintain it. Have you played as a goalkeeper in your life? if I have moved somewhere, some magical force does not force me to return to the center of the gate in my life.

I agree, the hip checks need to be toned down. When a small PMD catches up to a PWF and hip checks him from behind and it destroys it, the mechanics are questionable and the affect is overpowered.
