@hellusten94 Yes I do indeed call it a closer to simulated hockey experience because the random hits in the offensive zone are not realistic. The majority of hitting occurs in three scenarios a player is finishing their check into the boards, a player is trying to cross the blue line and is being led into the boards/bench. or the skater has their head down and gets levelled in open ice. (Sorry Bedard) All of these are still viable in the games current patch. What you can't do is disregard your position and try and skate at an aware player to hit them in open ice. You have to, in a way set up a hit for it to be effective. Many often relied on the hitting assistance and speed boost to make up for a mistimed or poorly positioned hit. Now you are being punished for it and I think this is a good thing and gives the forwards a little more breathing room to be offensive playmakers (and this is from a Dmans perspective). Now gameplay will always be a subjective term for all of us. What some like, others don't and I get that. But to say this isn't more along the lines of actual hockey I will provide this information.
15-17/20-12/28-28/7-9/11-19/28-24/23-23/34-35/15-10/16-15/10-14/13-10/19-18/20-22
These are the hit counts for Jan 27th 14 games before the all star break. The highest total being 69 in a single game.
But we have to remember that this is based on 60 min of hockey. Now lets take our NHL 24 games normal time of 4 min periods (12 per game). So to be equivalent we would take 5 games of ours to be equal to them. So I will take the last 5 games I played before the patch (1/27) and then take my most recent 5 games played from today.
Before patch last 5: 21-12/9-42/20-27/18-22/30-13 = 98 Away vs 116 Home
After patch last 5: 23-8/13-18/7-8/7-7/17-19 = 67 Away vs 60 Home
So yes hitting has gotten tougher sure. But to say its gone completely is crazy. These numbers prove it and I would argue are even inflated since time does slow at certain parts its more like maybe 3-4 games worth which would equate to 40ish a side. It just requires more thinking than before and like many other things in this franchises lifespan, within time we will figure out how to do them effectively again.
