EA just doesn't care anyone else than online players and everything is made only for them... And how many years has the game been almost same for offline game modes? This year AGAIN they didn't do anything for offline game modes AND THEY EVEN ADMITTED THAT so if that isn't ringing any bells who likes to play offline only... This at least made it very crystal clear that offline players doesn't mean anything for EA!
When you have seen offline players wishes come true or EA taking offline players opinions seriously? These games are made only for ARCADE LOVING ONLINE PLAYERS and EA is listening their opinions and making them wishes come true...
I have already skipped this series because EA made it pretty clear that announcement where they said that they havent MADE ANYTHING NEW FOR OFFLINE GAME MODES! And of course the removing hybrid controls wich was the biggest thing for me because with disability what i have... I couldn't use skill stick or any other controls so... What can i do? I cannot play at all and now when they said that they didn't even do anything new for offline game modes... I just removed myself from the EA customers list...
And what comes to removing stuff where EA has been very good for years now... Maybe it is time for EA to REMOVE all the offline game modes if they wont even bother to do ANYTHING for them... So why even keep them there? Just remove EVERYTHING offline related so it makes releasing these ARCADE ONLINE ONLY games easier...

EA has brought back HYBRID controls after community feedback, it was done about 2 weeks ago, so it should be there in the game at launch.
This is something that I totally agree with. They took out Hybrid and 94 controls and added Total control. If EA thought total control was good, they could have put it in but why take out the others? Why not just let us decide what control style we like? Why can't we customize the controls is another question I have been asking for years. If you can do it in FIFA (which is an EA title) why can't you do it in hockey? I'm sure in NHL 96 or 98 you could have, since I have purchased almost every NHL since 93. This year I chose not to buy it at release and I made the right choice since it would be a waste of $100+ if I couldn't play it without hybrid controls. I think everyone should receive a refund as well who used hybrid or 94 controls, since that's the way they play. Once again, shame on the developers and whoever made the choice to remove those controls should lose their job or jobs since the point of making a game is to sell it and make money, not make a decision that causes people not to buy it or demand a refund
