I totally agree.
Hip check are breaking the game. And many other things need to be adjusted also.
Total control is an issue of its own however.
It seems to me that the developers made a terrible mistake by choosing this path and it is something that will be next to impossible to fix.
Let me explain.
The logic is that common, easy buttons should be assigned to common, easy moves.
Let’s take the notorious michigan issue. There’s obviously a problem with the deke in its present state when playing total control. So lets say you nerf it down so people can’t do it all the time so the game is more realistic. Then, you are stuck with a core button that becomes useless. Same goes for the hip check, although to a slightly lesser degree, but the core issue is the same.
Pressing triangle is easy. It should be assign to an easy move.
Same with the others easy to use buttons.
Assigning super rare and hard to perform moves to these core buttons is due to brake the balance of the game.
Only solution is to nerf down the “power” of these moves, and then those buttons which should be assigned to useful actions will become next to useless.
Total control was a terrible decision intrinsically. Which is unfortunate because the core of the game is fine outside of that, and could easily be adjusted.
