To me, it just seems like they're making it harder to get out of your zone (making the exhaustion engine more of a factor) by getting rid of mechanics that were already realistic. They didn't want people clearing the puck to reset the exhaustion engine even though that's literally what happens IRL.
This second method works better in the defensive zone. There is no queue, but it does lack height, though balanced via decent power.
I feel like EA should make some sort comment on how dumping is going to work this year, including what your options are since there are at least 3 ways to dump the puck that I know of. There may be more, it's unclear, and it may cut down on posts about it if they cleared the air on what your players options are for dumping the puck, and if any specific type was created intentionally for any specific situation.
Of course, I'd also like to know if the typical RB method will be reverted to normal, even if half way.

the cpu clears the puck with the weak dump everytime. They also dump and chase with that flip dump everytime making cpu dump and chase very ineffective.
If the cpu uses all the ways to dump and chase and clear the puck , thatd be great but as it is they ONLY use the flip dump to clear and dump and chase. Please fix this....if you cant make the cpu use all the ways to dump/clear, at least give the flip dump power and height like nhl 23 so the cpu can function better.- Tobbish2 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
I don't know if anything from the patch changed much for me. What bothered me before the patch seem to still be there to bother me some more.
I have four main issues right now:
- Slow salary editing - Honestly, how could this happen? It is like the person responsible for that part of the game wants to tell everyone who edit players that we are wasting our time, and since we are willing to do so, can waste more time. Why on God's green flat earth can't we just press X, get the numbers lined up and adjust the salaries number by number (0-9)? I can't interpret the current situation as anything less than what I wrote above, because this is so stupid. It's 2023... when did FIFA change this? More than 10 years ago, I'm sure.
- Full pressure time scaling - My main problem is that it should be possible to scale the time of full pressure, like with penalties. I play with 3 minute periods, and to end up under full pressure for possibly 30 seconds is 1/6 of the period, compared to 1/40 if you play 20 minutes. I'm doing okay anyway, but it just feels very extreme when so much time of a period is full pressure (offensive or defensive). If it scaled, the full pressure during 3 minute periods should last for 4,5 second. I understand if some feel that it makes it pointless, but the option to change it would be nice. After all, the scaling would go for both ends of the ice.
- Line changes with Total Control - I'm not sure what to do about this. It's very awkward to do changes on the fly when the left thumb is already occupying the left stick and the index finger on L1/L2. It is almost what bothers me the most with the Total Control setting. I'm trying to get more fluent in moving my right hand to the left side of the controller to make a line change, because the option is to stop skating/skate awkwardly while trying to get the index finger to get things right. I don't want to go back to Skill Stick because of this, but this is the thing that tempt me the most.
- Weak flip puck - Okay if it's a standard for the online settings, but I wish there was an option to have it work as usual. To dump the puck properly while under pressure is something all NHL players can do. Yes, it could result in a lot of delay of game penalties, but it would be nice to change settings for how powerful the flip should work. Right now it almost feels like they miss hit it, because if it's something even the least puck savvy player can do, it's flip it better than they currently can in the game.
A part from those things I really enjoy the game so far. There are still improvements I'd like to see. Simplest and most urgently requested would be the unlocking of all player editing (in Franchise also), that would be hands down the best thing, but while I hope that will happen eventually, it could have happened for a long time and hasn't, so the expectations are not high, but I keep hoping!
