Video proof
Here's an example os superstar ignoring the ratings of the players. Guy with the puck is a Silver Ovr72. Guy chasing is a 99. https://imgur.com/a/VmVgxOF https://imgur.com/a/OVIRqm0
Niedermeyer has to turn, which slows him down. Luciane has pure straight-line speed and pulls away. This doesn't prove slower players are faster. However, you're always welcome to play with slower players if you feel they have an unfair boost.
Are you guys seeing the same thing I am? I understand all of the factors. Bottom line is, a 99 speed is directly behind a 72 PUCK CARRIER, both are at full speed and the 99 can't gain on him. That's the issue. NOT why the 99 was behind in the first place "he had to turn around" and NOT that he wasn't kicked into overdrive (I'm always pressing down on L3 by the way). And the snarky "why don't you use a lower ovr if you think they have an advantage" remark. Well genius I would if they had the same boost to them that Superstar gives to the CPU players. But I'm not the CPU am I?

No, they're not both at full speed. The 99 speed is not using hustle while the 72 puck carrier is.

But these are important factors in the scenario you posted. You can't just brush off the fact that a player was already a few strides behind and then had to make a turn, just because he's an OVR99 - this nuance has an impact on a player's ability to catch a puck carrier from behind.

If you were, then this energy bar would not be completely green:

The "boost" you're perceiving is just the use of a hustle button at the right times. Also not shown in this video is the perceived 'boost' the CPU gets when they make passes to players in stride and don't force puck carriers to lose their momentum. These same tactics are available to human players too. Some equate the inability to understand/learn/execute these simple, real-world hockey plays to the CPU getting a 'boost' but that's just not the case at all.
It's as simple as this; the CPU knows the nuance and uses it to its advantage the higher to go in difficulty settings. That nuance is available at your fingertips too, should you want to use it.
Mega. I am i agreement with you. Have had same issues with a 99 player on my team racing in from the blue line, and an 84 catches up to him. It just seems whenever you post an issue on this OPEN FORUM. You are doubted, and asked to provide video. And when you do. Its still challenged. Can't win brother.

Welcome to the world of discussion. We're allowed to have a back and forth. It's okay to doubt people. It's okay to challenge opinions. OP literally did win in this thread lol
edit: and when I say OP won this thread, I mean they proved me wrong and potentially provided some great footage that could be a legit issue. That’s fantastic.

That's because if there is an issue, it's most likely with Niedermeyer and not every 99. If it were with every 99, or in every instance of a faster skater being slower, the myriad of videos we've gotten of this over the last several years would have already shown it. I always said we needed one video showing where there could be a legitimate issue and that never happened until now. Previously, it was easy to tell the in-game mechanics were working as intended. I'm stating how the mechanics work and what is contributing time the difference in speed in this clip. I'm not saying there is no issue here. Which is why it's being investigated.

I have all kinds of video over the last several months, not just 99s. I only now figured out how to post one (I'm an old man). The thing you need to realize is that it's not all the time. A large percentage of the time everything is ok. But it seems like from time to time, the CPU likes to kick into god mode just to keep it interesting. Most times I'll blow by a 70 defender with the puck, but other times if the game is close I can't seem to shake him. So it's not just Neidermayer or 99s. It's the CPU in general. And on the flip side, sometimes the CPU with a 99 squad just sucks. So take it how you want. But it's been happening all year. I play ALOT of squad battles.
