Just stop giving EA your money its what a lot of people have done.

Then you claim this -

exactly this, its got nothing to do with sales numbers thats just nonsense
It takes money to add features and support other platforms. Especially a PC version that would have a far smaller player base. Not to mention the very high amount of resources, which cost money, to support a PC version of the game. So, your original statement just makes the second statement more false. Hockey is a borderline niche sport. It just doesn't have the audience that warrants the very high investment when that's not going to be returned. Unfortunately, we need money to make a PC version happen. It's not a situation where we can just copy and paste and call it a day. If it were, there would be a PC version by now.

At the very least you'd think they could get it out on Gamepass / Xcloud...

You know what? I've been waiting for 16 damn years, and at this point, EA can shove it. I am currently playing NHL 16 (Legacy) on a PS3 emulator. Before you start whining about piracy, maybe consider that PC players wouldn't have to rely on it as much if there was an official port, but that's besides the point. If EA Sports is really that stubborn, then I'm stubborn too. I'll just wait until the next emulator is ready, and then the next. That's my two cents about this evidently pointless back and forth between out of touch grandpas at EA and PC players

Ok here's an idea that requires NO effort on EAs part.
Have then re-release the very last PC game on Steam for a reasonable cost for such an ancient game, and allow it to be modified by the Steam community to add roster updates, graphic assets, new textures, etc.
Even allow it to be run through that RTX software that remasters old software graphics.
And finally, allow it to be server hosted on local machines.
Problem solved. EA makes some extra coin on vaporware, we get a hockey game that we can have dedicated mods work on it, and everyone who EA days DOESN'T EXIST gets the game they always wanted free from EAs microtransaction nonsense.
What say you EA? If there is no demand for this game on PC as you say... Release a dead game on Steam and open it up to the community and we'll see how dead it actually is!

This would also require getting the licensing for everything in the game at that time. I really don't see that happening. I get you all think a PC release is a piece of cake, but that's simply not the case or it would have been done.

The game is for all intents and purposes Abandonware. I don't condone piracy but I can certainly see a case for it when EA refuses to give the buying public, no matter how small it is perceived to be, an option to legally purchase it on the SYSTEM they currently own. The idea one has to sink an exorbitant purchase price of an entire console for the one game they want to play is beyond the pale.
Fine.. strip ALL the licenses for league/players/music and whatever else is required and just release the game stripped down as EA HOCKEY on PC and allow the modders to do the rest.

NHL 15 is the last game ive owned since i never bought ps4 or 5. Theres just no reason for me to get those consoles only for NHL. Hell i would take any NHL any day if it was available. Ofc preferably these new ones and preferably with crossplay but tbh at this point anything would do. I wish EA did some proper survey about it but i havent noticed any.
- 7 months ago@BullitMagnit74 This is the solution but EA would never. It doesn't make them exorbitant amounts of money through illegitimate means like gambling or exploiting people. I personally bought a new gen console only for NHL and MLB, the only two of the "Big 4" sports without PC ports and the only two sports I like. EA does NOT deserve any of the success it sees.
They obviously see this market -- they re-released Alpha Centauri on Steam this year for a whopping 276 all-time peak concurrent players, currently sitting at 27 players. A PC game, released in 1999. Albeit a much more popular game back in the day, but releasing it on Steam offered pretty much no benefit. NHL 09 is a slightly newer game, it's a game with a PC version, they could easily re-release it to gauge the support for NHL on PC. If it isn't there, oh well, Steam is doing most of the heavy lifting to host and support this game, people still bought and play it, and now PC players can legally acquire an official NHL game. It is there, and suddenly a new market is opened up for NHL on PC and EA has tapped into more of that sweet money they so crave. Their greed is satisfied, and their players are happy.
Even better and less costly -- they literally just make a post somewhere asking if the support is there. Make an identical post for another franchise not on PC yet/anymore. Easy peasy, they have an idea of the popularity and demand for the game on PC, and from a much more mainstream place than this forum or relatively small subreddits. But even that's too much effort for a AAA game dev that copy and pastes their game each year while pretending it takes effort to add and remove the same features a few times and whining about how their players (aka their source of money) want too much.
