"A traceroute needs to be performed to traceireland1.ea.com"
To a RIPE address? In Europe? Does the DNS reply for "traceireland1.ea.com" change for a PC query and reply when you are loading into WoC?
"We're thinking the issue may be with the AT&T Internet Air service "
Their fixed wireless product? It's happening over fiber gig connections. In the U.S.
Appreciate the eyes on this, but kinda scratching my head here. So, when you get into a game, it's fine. If you get into one. No lag at all. No packet loss.
So, to me, this is clearly an issue with:
- ATT customers, Fiber or otherwise
- it is console agnostic
- it is only happening from what people can tell with this specific EA game (one problem here is I have no idea if "vs" on NHL or Madden is still peer to peer or not, but I can get into those fine)
- happens during peak times for internet traffic
- doesn't impact GAMEPLAY
- impacts font end / loading / menus and I assume these are different paths... i.e. centralized front end vs. localize (east, central, west) actual game servers
EA knows where the front end is and who is doing their CDN or cloud services for the front end / menu etc.
EA knows this is ATT specific.
ATT is completely useless, as always, and will sit on their hands until this "sorts itself out."
The question is, does ATT have DIRECT PEERING with AWS or whoever is hosting these EA NHL front end services or is there another tier 1 provider between ATT and the EA server(s) in question.
