Very good summary of how this problem feels.
Its not completely random, though its hard to narrow it down.
The ”mud skating” is better late in the evening and at night time. At least for me. Also its happens more often vs cross console.
When it kicks in, i usually loose 8-9 out of 10 games. The next day, if its responsive, I can win 10 games in a row vs players which I feel are much better than the opponents from yesterday.
I got 17-21ms to server with fiber connection… flat line, though this graph does not say that much. Some times I have responsive game play, the next time I start console its not.
PS5 console is wired with tv in game mode.
The ”randomness” is actually the main point - I know how responsive the game CAN be, and if you play a lot, you will definatly notice when the mud skating kicks in.
As it can be either bad or good - its not HW related, its server, connection or maybe isp related. But when its bad you cannot determine the problem using the network graph
I quite often play opponents with low level players and their ”agility” and ”speed” are twice as good as mine.
i get the feeling it might be related to my connection being too good (750mbit fiber) and the game needs to balance the game speed vs opponents with very slow performance.
This is frustrating if you are competetive, and I am sure this is not only happening for a few players. The pool of players are generally small. The competetive pool is smaller, the pool experiencing this problem is also small, but from what i read on the web and from friends this is a big problem and its not going away by itself. I had this problem since nhl 22
