Input Delay v.24
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Input-Lag-Unresponsiveness/td-p/11949320 In what is becoming an annual tradition since January '22, NHL24 plays with the same exact input delay, player fre...
The last couple days have been so excruciating -- beyond unplayable, even by my standards -- that I was enraged enough to get clips. It'll lead nowhere, but it's therapeutic.
I re-downloaded the game and changed zero settings going right into WoC free skate. First 2 videos you can see how snappy the cuts are, how quickly I enter sprint (literally 1 step with 95 speed/acceleration), and just a general fluidity. This is how people normally play the game. It's how I used to play.
It should be pretty easy to see the sluggish difference in the videos below. My player stops when I turn (2nd video more so, which is from a few weeks ago); the cuts don't look like elite edges; and there's a general laggy look. I counted 6 strides from holding sprint to actually sprinting.
Sometimes stoppages OFFLINE help until it crops up again within a minute or two. Honestly, in the top clean clips, it felt as good as ever tonight. Normally, it's worse, even when I'm not de-syncing. Online? Forget about it. I've played 90 ping on a very rare lag free night, and I can only describe this as far far worse in latency, along with the input anomalies. On my 20 ping, I see people I know on 90 ping animate/input so much faster than me they might as well be on LAN.
As always, it's not even just what my player feels but the entire physics of the games being......wrong. Like it's not synchronized with my opponent and their actual animations are a second ahead, even in non-input situations. Clean pokes miss, easy pickups don't happen, my skating being as I've described, severely unbalanced incidental contact each way, etc. I have a lot of friends who experience this, just not to my degree. But I can see when they are also delayed.
Can you put those videos up on YouTube and link them in a response instead? When attached to a response, the clips are just too small.

The first 2 videos are normal agility and sprinting this week. This is WoC Free Skate.
Below (filmed at the same time) is a short snippet where suddenly it feels sluggish. My edges don't look sharp; the stop at center ice was not intended on a turn. Sprinting took 5 steps instead of 1 with max skating stats. My actual stick movements are the same as above.

Here's a normal skating session from maybe 1-2 months ago:
Same session below. One of the best examples of the delay and how it looks online (albeit it's much worse online when lag and servers come into play). Sometimes it cuts, sometimes it stops at random. Not a single stop is intentional. It feels sluggish and unresponsive -- noticeably, it doesn't look like elite edges (which are on). Sprinting takes several extra strides to activate.
Here's me replicating the same looking delay in regular Free Skate (it manifests in every mode), with Jack Hughes:
Regarding the videos above (and for the umpteenth time): every piece of hardware has been replaced, I'm on 1GB upload ethernet, and it ONLY manifests this lag in NHL22-24. It's not user error, as my good clips show, and it's not anything on my end or other games would be affected.
Last night, I was up abnormally late. I've stated this before, but it does sometimes resolve in the early morning. I had the lag even from 2-4:45am last night. But then, like a fog, I played 2 more games without any delay whatsoever. Not even on the same server locations. I find it hard to believe the servers are overloaded at 4am EST, but 5am EST is the sweet spot (and not even consistently). It's not one online mode that resolves either -- it's the entire game.
I know other players I'm with have these issues to much lesser degree. I also regularly play the same people who can always move impossibly faster and smoother on equal or higher ping. I know regular lag, and this isn't it. I can show proof of the input issues in video, but only I know how awful it actually feels. I don't think anyone in the community has been as vocal or descriptive or provided as much evidence as me, and it never leads anywhere because I'm being given the runaround with zero back and forth.
Thanks for the all details and clips. I'll relay any new information I get back on this.
@DeliveryForKiki2 months later without even a reply to these clear as day videos. Not that I expected otherwise because it's been 2 years of this routine. I doubt the devs have seen these videos, and I doubt they care either way. The customer support from EA is as poor as it gets. But I'll keep these bimonthly visits up until NHL79, if I must.
I did send them to the dev team. I don't have an update. It could not be reproduced.
