I created a thread on this on another site , since I wasn't able to post videos on this EA site. NHL 25 offline, the gameplay is good with modified sliders. Better AI on both offense and especially cpu ai defense. But this goalie issue of the overextending the blocker creates wayyy too many cheap goals for both human and cpu.
it was much much better in NHL 24. For some reason, it took a step way back. Some of The save animations are just too quick, like warp speed quick so that goalies overplay the puck and let in these routine shots into cheap goals.
I was in a 1-1 tight checking game, just a great game with me outshooting the cpu 23-21 ( 10 min periods). With 2 mins left in the 3rd, I score this cheap type of blocker side goal. Ruined the whole game experience.
I posted 5 videos there for Nhl 25. This was just from TWO games I played mind you.

look at the cpu 5 hole. how it is not completely closed when the shot arrives. The reflexed looks believable and results in a good hockey play. a harder wrist shot from foerster or tippett, could have beaten the goalie 5 hole.

A slapshot attempt on the rush yields a beautiful looking save. The puck goes BEYOND the glove, but was saved by the lower pad. Again believable reaction times and results in a good hocley play.

a high glove shot by the cpu properly handled by goalie ai. no overplaying, no cheap goal.
