If you’re trading in for an 88 they should cap it at 87. Problem solved. Unless you manually put it in.
Why ruin autofill even more? Just pay attention next time.
How would capping the overall ruin autofill even more? It's exactly what EA did with TOTY sets, and yeah it wasn't the best possible solution, but I don't see how it would make things worse than they are now for autofill.

If they put in 2 ovrs for each set going forward sure. We all know EA isn't going to put in the work to do it. The problem comes if people wanna use a slightly higher ovr in those sets, we'd need to manually do it and waste more time.

I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be able to do it at all in that case, because the sets would only accept 2 exact overalls regardless of whether we try to fill it automatically or manually. And that's why it isn't a perfect solution. But at the same time it's a solution for making it easier to manually add player to sets rather than an actual solution to the autofill issue, and it doesn't really change anything for autofill, so I don't think it would "ruin autofill even more".
