Controls as Goalie on PS5 WORST ever

EA spends all of it's time developing new moves and controller combinations for every player EXCEPT that of a goaltender. This. in my opinion has always been the case. The latest 2025 is no different. Wonky controls as a goaltender. Setting to the butterfly position makes the goalie sometimes move to a side unexpectantly. When I try to free skate the first second or so the goalie move uncontrolled usually in the opposite direction. Almost impossible to play in a career as a goaltender and do well. Also, no matter how I adjust the game sliders, I cannot find a setting that allows equal shots on goal for both sides and there is ZERO computer controlled aggression. Not 1 hit in a game on either side even with aggression all the way up for both human and CPU. Such a crap design.

  • There are just too many subtle and fast movements to properly map controls for goalies - has always been this way and will continue to do so until maybe VR controls are added (which, let's be honest, would be disasterous in both the virtual world and physical).

  • Agreed, It is difficult but more so is when you play as a goaltender in career mode you are essentially play a cpu vs cpu game. Relying on your cpu controlled team to score goals and help you to succeed. I have had many games where I either lost 1-0 or in a 0-0 shootout because of my cpu's inability to score any goals. At the end I get penalized because my team didn't score a goal. No matter how I adjust game sliders the play is essentially non-existent. Also frustrating is the overplay of freak goals by your own defense scoring on their own goal or the goaltender accidently scoring on themselves. In reality, how many times has anyone seen this actually happen? In NHL 2025 it's almost an every game occurrence.
