So the game, which probably has close to, if not the LOWEST player base of many sports games, you want to slash and isolate some of the playerbase from playing by taking away things that they find fun? You also want to take something away that is giving value to EA as a company because its revenue that they are getting in the form of the skins and the battlepass? These both would mean reduction in sales on both fronts. By doing this, you are essentially getting rid of one of the few reasons they would want to make the game a more enjoyable experience both in gameplay and aesthetics.
This is not video gaming of old times, people like silly in games, people like the sillier the better. People like things like Seth Rogan performing accidental finishers. These kinds of things bring interest to people who may not necessarily be a complete fan of hockey towards the game. It broadens the spectrum a little past the hardcore hockey fan. People like having those weird combination of skins and features to a make a silly looking player character. Just look at games that get really popular by streamers when they can make the guys legs three times the size of their body.
Wanting to take these cosmetics away from the game just because they don't look/feel normal or real is not a good idea. Its a traditionalist way of looking at things and with this playerbase being already small, you can't afford to isolate more people from the game.
