I don't see as many weak goals going in as you apparently. Are you playing 3s? I can see them happen more there. I play 6s. Usually with an AI goalie. Yeah, there are some weak goals, but the high majority of them are not partial saves or floaters over the goalie's head. We do our best to block shots and take away scoring chances. Goalies could do a better job with rebounds. I agree, but myself and my D partner are conscious of this and normally pick them up.
We know the cheese goals so we're pretty decent at stopping them. If you're giving up the forehand-backhand, that's due to some bad defense. Goalies in the real world are no stranger to giving up that same shot. If you're not recognizing your opponent is using tips, rebounds, low far-side wristers, D to D one Ts, short-side wristers, etc, that's on you. Part of good hockey is reading your opponent and recognizing their tactics and defending them. Goalies are only going to bail you out so much. I've said it many times, goalies aren't perfect. There very much is room for improvement and I'd love to see that happen. Most of the goals I see though are due to mistakes made by the skaters that don't play good D.
We also get a lot of complaints someone put 40 shots on net and lost to someone else with less than 10. So, what's the story there? Why are they stopping dozens of shots in those games? They'll say their opponent's goalie stood on their head, but theirs let in a weak wrister from the point. Bad goals are going to happen. It's a part of the sport.
