Full Pressure System needs to change...

Let me first start by saying that I loved the idea of the Full Pressure System when it was first introduced. It's a great way to mimic those crowd cheering moments when your team is hemming the opposing team in their own zone and getting line changes while they are stuck exhausted begging for a whistle. That being said however, the functionality of it needs to change if the goal was to experience this type of feeling. The biggest issue I find with it is in HOW the meter is depleted over time. What I saw in 25 was that shots were being fired as soon as you crossed the blue line for the sake of filling the meter and draining the goalie stamina.  When you got the puck back and entered their zone, that meter didn't deplete much. In fact, I did a test in game to see just how much is lost below:

Full Pressure issue

You can see that after nearly 30 seconds in their zone, that meter only was reduced by 40% of its total or 2 bars worth, which is just about how much one shot or hit even fills up. There should be no reason this meter doesn't decrease fully after about 5 to maybe 10 seconds out of the zone or just emptied the second you enter the attacking zone. This is what caused a lot of confusion at times with players going "oh one shot and they get full pressure" when the truth was "oh one shot" (plus the hit on me and shot they took from a minute ago) "and they get full pressure". The other thing I will say is that if a whistle does happen (that is not due to Icing), the full pressure should then be removed completely as well.

The idea of this system should be for rewarding good pressure in the opposing teams zone and perhaps neutral zone while denying the opposing team the chance to change lines (or in EASHL just get some pressure off and stamina back).

Feel free to add anything you think? I am hoping 26 addressed this a little bit.

  • But it's all one sided. Making good poke check or hit does not reduce the meter at all. There's no balance to it. You leave there zone and it's stays forever. It's a broken mess and defense players suffer like every year. Games 99% offense and glitch..

It does work like that once the meter is full up. Maybe you are misunderstanding me on this one Showtime. What I am saying is what was not shown in this clip (because I couldn't clip that far back enough) was them shooting to fill the meter, once the meter is filled they simply have to regain puck possession for the "30 seconds of Full Pressure" to activate. That however, did not happen as we managed to grab the rebound and escape the zone. Proceeding then to maintain control in their zone for almost a full minute before they finally got back in our zone with the puck and showed that the meter had only drained from 100% to a little less than 60% or 3 bars full.

As far as I know there is no system in place or that was ever mentioned regarding defensive plays assisting in filling your own meter. If that was the case then stuff like blocked shots and hits in the offensive zone would trigger it (which I would be completely against personally).

All that was explained when it was implemented was that one team got a buff to the pressure effect and the other guy a downgrade due to the pinned effect.

That's not how it works (pressure building from a simple puck possession). If they manage to obtain the puck immediately after it was in possession of your team (a turnover) this will cause the meter to increase. Simply touching the puck does not add to the meter.

As for why their pressure remained 1/2 full after being pressured in their own zone, I think this is because not only did your team constantly turn it over in their zone - your team also didn't manage to generate a single scoring chance (or a single shot) while full pressure was activated. I think this gives the defending team a head-start in obtaining their own full pressure when going the other way. It's like a reward for superb defending while under full pressure.

Indeed because here is a more "extreme" example of the problem with it.
I couldn't even clip the before shot of it after leaving the zone it was so long but you will have to just take my word that it was about to activate if they touched the puck again.

Regardless why is there any meter still filled up after almost a full minute in their zone?

Appreciate the feedback on this. Hopefully, we'll see changes to the pressure system in the future.
