Are we going to see the same scenarios over and over again like 24.We had the cross crease goals that tbf was mostly fixed. They still go in from time to time but they are easier to stop. One that is used constantly now is cutting in and shooting to the far post. 90% of goals are scored like that in 24. Its been worse since they made the cross crease goals harder to do. I know whatever happens they'll be glitch goals in 25 but at least have a few so not every game is the same.

I wouldn't really consider any of those goal scenarios to be glitches. That's just forwards getting into good scoring position. If real life players were able to get into such positions as often as you can in EA NHL, they'd be scoring plenty more.I think the issue isn't so much goals going in due to an error in the game's code as much as it's defenders having a combo of not enough tools and not enough skill. If teams consistently allow forwards to get into the low slot, or leave players unmarked at the side of the net, you're gonna give up goals. That said, I also think it should be easier to more consistently engage in net battles, use your poke check/defensive skill stick without being stopped in your tracks, etc.Defense definitely needs some help to bring the position more in balance with the forwards, but defenders also have to be willing to accept that, no, you didn't make the perfect play every single time.

It's not unbalanced in the number of tools per se, but it is unbalanced in the effectiveness of the tools.Take for example, the defensive skill stick. Defensive skill stick is beyond useless. In real hockey, players are taught to keep their sticks on the ice and in the passing lanes to disrupt plays by the offense. In EA NHL, holding out your stick to disrupt plays doesn't do anything. You're WAY more likely to block or intercept a pass by NOT using dss. And, when you try to use dss, it causes your player to instantly slow down to an absolute crawl, meaning that you're just going to end up letting opposing players skate straight past you, effectively giving them MORE space.Hitting? Hitting is nice at times, but I can't tell you how many times I've hit a player with an Ovi-esque bone-crushing hit only for the player to be back up on his skates and into the play BEFORE I AM. Then you consider that tiny, speedy forwards can hip check giant defensemen into next week, and the hitting component becomes a complete wash.Poke checking suffers from the same slow down as dss, but with the added bonus of tripping players when you poke check them while they're facing you all because your player completely ignores the puck and pokes straight at their skates.I would not, in any way, call that balanced. When defense (and goalies) have to be near perfect just to keep up with average forwards, that's not balanced. Giving one group of players a set of premium DeWalt tools while giving the other group a set from Harbor Freight's discount section is not balance.Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Goals scored by an opposing team on their own goal, is quite frequent in 24, or if you are player locked, your own players score on your net and the goalie just flops or stands there. Yeah, there is a reason I stopped playing with player lock. I switch constantly as the AI can't figure out basic hockey sense.

Your last paragraph is spot on. Doesn't matter how good you are at defending, the offence always has the upper hand due to the game being unbalanced.

Cross crease, far side, short side, these aren't glitches. Goalies could provide better coverage, I'll agree with that. Something like the puck phasing through the goalie would be considered a glitch. Not covering the post like their supposed to would also be in issue. I'm just saying, every year we have people claiming a goal is a glitch when it's really more about not recognizing your opponent is taking the same shot over and over again without defending it. A real team is going to look for holes in their opponent's defenses and exploit those. If there is a goal that's a legitimate glitch, we'll get it reported to the team for investigation.

hey stubo, American with 32% Scotch ancestry here. Glad you have caught the sport. I never could get into what the rest of the world calls football. it is way too slow. There is more action in 5 minutes of hockey than a whole football match. Watching two teams battle to a zero zero tie with 5 total shots on net is not my idea of excitement. Did you ever have indoor soccer there? We had it here for a while. I liked it better than outdoor because the game moved faster. I still prefer hockey.

First off, if you want to defend, DRAFT AND HIRE defensive players. It is much harder than it appears. It is far easier to find offensive forwards than defensive forwards. After several years of franchise building I was able to stock my team with forwards that could play defense as well as the average defensemen. I always have at least 3 guys on the ice with superior defensive ratings.
The goaltenders are definitely a problem too. It is dumb to spend a fortune on an "elite" goalie when he doesn't perform any better than a "starter" in most cases. SAVE YOUR MONERY

I'm not saying that defense couldn't use an upgrade. My point is that many are able to use the available defensive tools very well. Personally, I use DSS heavily so I don't see how it's useless. I also don't have a high amount of tripping penalties. I would certainly like to see to pokes be more affective, but when used right, they're not causing undeserved tripping calls.

When it comes to players getting up from hits goes, that's normally an issue when the player falls between the defender and the puck and you're having a difficult time getting around them. Otherwise, I see hits happen very, very frequently, especially hip checks, where the player getting hit stays down while the hitter skates away to their next victim.

I will agree the defensive tools could be improved. I'd absolutely love that. I just think part of the idea that we cater to offense comes from the challenge of being a good defenders. It's absolutely not easy and requires a lot of reading of plays, anticipation and discipline. Things that are skill based rather than having a button to perform a defensive function for.
