Goalies and the blocker side conundrum

Should we discuss this rampant issue with gameplay? Yes. Yes, we should.

The goalies are so ridiculously weak on anything blocker side. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

Wrist shots close (hard)

Wrist shots close (soft)

Wrist shots at distance (hard)

Wrist shots at distance (soft)

Wrist shots from the middle of the ice (hard)

Wrist shots from the middle of the ice (soft)

Wrist shots from bad angles (hard)

Wrist shots from bad angles (soft)

Now substitute the words "slap shot" for "wrist shot" above

Now substitute the words "one timer" for "wrist shot" above

Now substitute the words "back hander" for "wrist shot" above

Back handers to the blocker side on breakaways are ridiculously overpowered and go in far too often

Back handers coming across the slot are almost automatic and easily expoitable

Shots to the blocker of almost any type or or strength will hit the goalie, drop down behind him, and trickle in slowly while the goalie flops like he's holding an electric eel

Beyond the blocker debacle, the goalies are absolutely dreadful after stopping any shot that results in a rebound. They just lay there, helpless, like an infant in the cradle. Sure, arms and legs may flail about, but the motions and effectiveness are worthless and mean nothing.

These issues NEED a serious patch and rework for there to be any balance at all to the gameplay. It doesn't break the game, but it definitely affects the game in so many negative ways.

I hope this is useful feedback that gets passed on to the development team to address these issues in timely and effective fashion.

  • Absolutely have this same issue of an eashl goalie for the past 10 years. It is not even that we are getting beat cleanly on the blocker side. I get it soft goals go in every once in a while but this is constantly. There is an abundance of soft goals that will seemingly hit your blocker and drop down, or you will get an animation where your goalie actively moves his blocker away from the puck. This reoccurring issue NEEDS to be fixed, it’s unacceptable for this to happen for so many years
