Grudge Match Deep Dive Blog

Giving individual players boosts in EASHL is the dumbest thing EA's done in a while. Keep in mind that most club games aren't the same players playing against the same players over and over. Most of the time, it's guys picking up players from LFGs, or guys in leagues throwing teams together full of randoms.

Let's just think about this for a second. Let's say you get a lobby full of random guys who all found each other 5 minutes ago in an LFG. Because ONE guy played well at some point in a game against that CLUB, not those specific PLAYERS, he gets a boost that no one else gets? What the hell?

X-factors were a terrible addition to NHL to begin with, and EA has SOMEHOW found a way to use them to make the game even MORE unbalanced.

Bravo, lads. My expectations were low, but **bleep**.

I would consider this to be more or less what full presentation is:

Is the presentation perfect? No. Does a modern NHL game have to be presented exactly like a full real-life NHL broadcast? No. But, people have been BEGGING for this kind of presentation for YEARS. And, it's something we know EA can do, because we've seen EA do it before. EA's choice in presentation is purely an artistic one. Well, the art sucks.

Impact players are awarded based on team. So, if a player earns that award and then joins another club, the XF won't transfer with them.

So if Team 1 plays Team 2. And the next game Team 2 now has 6 new players(the previous ones are still on the club) will one of the players of team 2 get the Xfactor? Or only the one player from team 1. 

In that case, a new player from team 2 will be chosen.

Not having this Grudge Match feature in Online Versus is such a slight. It would be perfect to track games against specific people. 

Here's a weird question...  Can we turn Grudge Match off in franchise mode?

I really dislike X-Factors. I went through my '24 roster player-by-player to remove all the XF from them. I guess I'm a purist, but I want player ratings, strategy, and my performance to determine games, not a gimmick.

Throughout an 80 some-odd game season, I make my own grudges - especially with all the new tracking of previous games in FM. I'd love to see a preview of whom on the opposing team has played well for and against me, even though I already have a good sense, but I hate the boosts.

Any chance I'm going to be able to disable this?

It'd be great if I could disable XF all together with just a toggle ;)
