Hitting needs some improvement.

The hitting needs more aim assist so we get less cheesy miss animations. It's too easy to avoid hits skating straight at an opponent but simply turning your body negates the hit. It doesn't feel right when I do it to an opponent. I should have to change lanes to avoid being hit or pull up.

Once you figure it out it's too easy to puck ragg in their zone. I can only imagine once the majority of the community figures it out.

  • Yep, it still feels like the last game where everyone just abused EE and twirled around in circles. Now that they've removed it from WoC people are just using 94-95 agility and stopping on a dime in the slot or puck-protecting through hit animations, just like EE did, wow isn't that crazy! We played a team already where both forwards did nothing but the spin move animation repeatedly and they were completely un-hittable during the animation, just sliding past 2-3 people hitting them at the same time. That club was already 48-1 abusing it.

I'm not saying bring back speed boost hitting but even the total control hipchecks lock on more than the traditional body checks. What I see now is even more hipchecks spammed and ppl spamming poke checks to defend.

This game will get boring quickly because the growing trend already is to offensive zone ragg the puck because we can't be hit.

This game would be perfect with NHL 23 hitting mechanics, this time timed hitting has been a giant fail.

Maybe it's because I only play 1v1 modes but I'm totally against anything that would urge the devs to bring back speed boost hitting. NO. THANKS.

I've had no trouble hitting dudes who are in a position to be hit. It's just more realistic now such that you can't bail yourself out by turning into a heat-seeking missile and rocketing at the puck-carrier even though you're beat.

Let's leave it how it is for at least a month and see what kinds of clips we're getting. Also, if you're having serious instances of puck-ragging/hits not working, why not post those clips to this forum so that we can discuss them?

EA needs to remove ALL hitting aim assist, not add. I disagree with this idea. Suction hitting is the absolute worst thing with this game.

Let's remove hitting in general so we can all spam pokes and skate in circles untouched. It's crazy how people just want only offense in a game.

  • Noooooo more aim assist is terrible. The magnetic hits frustrating to play as on both sides of the puck. One thing I think people are adjusting to is not being able to hit as a 5,7 160 pound forward anymore. Even without aim assist, if you have good hitting stats and get some speed you can still hit well.

With that being said however they definitely need to add more defensive tools to the arsenal. Maybe up the chance to intercept nearby pucks, a button to face toward the puck carrier at all times and a slight buff to shoving people while they're in a turn.

  • I swear if EA listens to the complainers and brings back speed boost hitting I'm never buying this game again (not that I've bought it yet lol... bless the free trial).

I see guys in online versus averaging 14 hits per game in the top 100 so it's not as bad as some people here are making it out to be.

Disagree. Players who've previously relied on magnetic, speed-burst hitting are now suffering the consequences from leaning on that for so long. EA tried to introduce more responsible hitting via an update last year, but I think that lasted 2-weeks due to the cries from the community.

Stick to your guns on this EA. Force these players to adapt and learn that a missed hit will have consequences.

Yes, it's easy to avoid a hit when an opponent is charging one up and very obviously going for one. That's how it should be. If an NHL player can see a hit coming, they can avoid it most of the time.

This idea that 'turning your body negates a hit' is not true when it comes to big hits. However, if a little guy is throwing shoves at me and I have body positioning and balance, it absolutely should not knock me off the puck. 'Negate' implies that the intended target is in control of the failed hit, but it's the hitter who is incorrectly throwing a body check that is the 'negater'.

Yes because when Rempe hits someone in real life he has to "charge up" .

It's absolutely true about twisting your body negates a hit because when twisting the hit bounces off.

If I recall you said the same thing last year when they took hitting out with that update and they changed it back within the week so 0-1.

HUT is a bigger community, the most profitable and most competitive. The ongoing trend in the hut community is to fix hitting so we're all not puck ragging it.

He does. To land a hit in the NHL, you need speed and timing. In videogame land, this is 'charging up', so to speak.

Show us a video of someone doing this to negate a high speed hit from a player with decent hitting stats.

Actually, considering the development team chose to not only revert the change for a final release but improve upon it.. I'd say it's 2-0 bud 😁

  • 15 year defense vet here, the hitting is fine. I don’t like some of the animations, but I have no problem with hitting anyone. The issues are a lot of people want to run and gun without managing the gap. Also, size absolutely matters now. There’s a big learning curve with hitting, and I’m loving it.

The hitting is basically in good place now, no more speed boosts thanks. Shoves could have bit more power and the target lock when opponent does spinorama, or other sudden lateral move seems off. The hit goes where the opponent was, and not where I’m targeting or anticipating. It’s the biggest gripe with the new system to not fully manually target the hit direction, which wasn’t issue in 23…

Please for the love of god, NO! Speed boosted hits made 24 my least favorite chel game of all time. It's not even satisfying to hit someone when you can constantly spam heat seeking missiles at the puck carrier. You couldn't even react to them half the time if your ping wasn't great (which is almost never if you're on West Coast).

  • The hit assisting is the main reason why im upgrading from 24 to 25, It single handedly makes 24 unplayable/ the cpu and player are flat out cheating with any form of given speed boost.

The success of your hits should solely rely on realistic factors  (speed, body position, size etc.) not arcade like rocket boost hits or the ability to lock onto people and heat seeking missle them down the ice. I very much like the sound of the current hitting system.

I don't even want to see an option to turn it on or off incase it doesn't work ( which is very much common in these games for certain options to not work)
