The only thing that's wrong with hitting right now is that Truculence allows you to be hit just before you receive a pass without a penalty. You're also allowed to pass, have your pass received by another player, and still be hit when the puck is nowhere near you anymore. Great for inuring D-men making a pass up the ice so you take 30 seconds actually getting back up while play is still going on.
Also, it's still easier to hip-check and separate puck from player than it is to actually charge up a hit.
Thankfully, I've taken hitting out of my game completely. I've got 35 hits in 124 club games. You. Don't. Need. It. This game doesn't resemble anything close to actual hockey for you to need to body check, and then check yourself out of position hit or miss.
