How does matchmaking work during club finals?

I was just wondering if you could explain any changes to matchmaking during club finals.

Is the player base split between the cups? We are a lower win percentage team (high 30s low 40s) but we are in the Elite Cup, and during club finals we basically are only getting matched against teams in the 60-80% win percentage range. I think we have seen 1 team below 50% since finals have started.

  • Hey there. Your win percentage isn't considered with matchmaking. You're only matched with other teams playing for the same cup.

  • Yes,  it makes zero sense.   we Play 2 in 6 v 6 and in playoffs every year... its diamonds and fire .....  its so sad how EA ignores this.

If we further restricted matchmaking to a similar win percentage, the player pool would be significantly reduced so you'd have a much harder time finding matches.

It actually makes perfect sense. In the regular season, it's one big matchmaking pool. You'll match with teams from all divisions. When playoffs start, you'll only face Elite teams (if qualified for the Elite cup). It shouldn't be surprising at all that more teams you match up with will have elite-level players (Diamonds, Fire).

Playoffs are about the best of the best and in order to do that, it means you're going to have to face these elite-level players.

Never expect playoffs to be the same as a regular-season cakewalk. It's always going to be tough, as it should be.

    Thanks for the quick answer.

Follow up question, what determines which cup you play for, is it your division at the end of the season, or the highest you made it to in the season.

It's based on the division you're in at the end of the season.

The matchmaking is all about finding the most difficult opponent. WE are now in round 3. 9-0 record. 7!!!! searches and still no opponent. Why don't you tell the truth about the nonsense you guys sold us? Starting search No. 8.....

I wonder since you are in round 3 if you can only face other teams in round 3, that would be a pretty small player base, and would mean long searches.

Luckily my team sucks and we have never  made it out of round 2, so searches pretty quick, lol
