How does this player evade this hit? (Clip Included)

https://www.youtube.com/clip/Ugkx6NJ2RctjphaSvsX-ya3av2lXEhj19V_S

In the attached clip, you'll see RD (me) attempt a hit as a player goes for a wrap around. Somehow (?) the player not only evades the hit, they seem to avoid any body contact and keep the puck and score. It seems odd to be punished for reading his play correctly. My player is a 6'7 defenseman with gold truculence. It doesn't make sense for a player to literally push past me.

  • It's hard to say exactly what happened on the play. Initially, it looks like maybe your player was hustling and that elbow movement could've just been the arm swinging motion of the hustle animation? Perhaps you did use the RS, but the game just didn't recognize the input?

Regardless, I do think this play is something the dev team should look at. Regardless of whether you used the RS to initiate a hit, two players skating at each other like that in real life would have one or both players colliding into a heap on the ice. It makes no sense that the offensive player there should be completely unphased by the contact to the point of not even losing the puck.

Do you by any chance know what the bodychecking/strength/balance and weight of your player's build was in this video? That could give some insight into what happened.

  • I can't tell from the clip, but did you actually use the RS to go for a hit or did you guys just kinda collide?

Only thing I could really think of is that there wasn't actually a hit, and maybe your players were similarly sized, maybe he had high strength/balance which helped him stand his ground during the collision and then your players just kinda slid off each other.

I think/intended that I used the hit input but obviously after the fact it is tough to tell :)  Where I think it gets extra tricky is that the "raise hands" that you'd usually look for aren't obvious because it's also triggering the ragdoll animation. At 18 seconds or so, you'll see the elbow raise and I think that's likely where the hit input was.

  • looks like you didnt actually input the hit. Still stupid he squeaked out but your palyers' hands indicate no hit input

It is always tough after the fact. I certainly think that I used the hit input but I agree that it doesn't look like that so I might be mistaken. Where I think it gets extra tricky is that the "raise hands" that you'd usually look for aren't obvious because it's also triggering the ragdoll animation.
