I used to beat the drum of, "of course they test this game" for years but this particular issue proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that these patches are rushed out with no testing.
I can picture a scenario where a group of devs test the new build with icon based passing fixed, and they play ONE game in every mode and determine, 'YEP! Fixed!'.
And now we have a feature that needs to be enabled after every game because QA couldn't bother to test it more than once.
I won't go as far as saying there's no testing at all, but the type of bugs showing up after the recent patches certainly doesn't paint a good picture of the state of their manual and automated testing processes.
The icon passing bug should have been immediately obvious during manual testing. The XP bug, while harmless, should have been picked up by basic automated tests. And I've seen people reporting other issues with stat tracking that again should probably have been picked up by automated tests.
I've been involved with long-lived code bases in the past, and I get how difficult it can be to work with when code is piled upon code over many years. But that's why it's so important to invest in proper testing processes. To catch those unexpected side-effects before pushing things to production.

My speculation is that EA probably doesn’t allocate many devs or resources to this game because it’s not high up in popularity, nor a huge money-maker for them compared to other titles. Given that and the fact that it also seems to be waning in popularity year by year (their own doing), it’s probably essentially a skeleton crew of a team allocated to work on these things.

I had to turn off the Ps5 controller speaker all together to avoid having to change settings prior to every game... and now I have to adjust settings in other games that do use the controller speaker adequately...
Based from that, these latest patch and what I know of the industry - they work about 3-4 months on the new game, in Q1-Q2, then are given 2-3 months to polish. Then support it for the last Q4.
No wonder it's a mess.
They should have two studios do 1 game every two years like COD/MW. But they don t sell enough copies to justify it, which gives a subpar product which leads to low sales number.
Same here. The Icon Passing is "On" in the WOC hub settings menu, but defaults to "Off" for every club game. This is happening for me and my teammates. Even when we turn it back on in the first intermission it only works for a little bit before the icons stop showing up.

Thanks. I'll get this reported.

Hi there. Can you make sure your game is fully updated? Completely exit out of NHL 25 and check to see if there's an update available. Your version should say 1.3.1.

Yes that’s what mine says played a rivals game and works also, just EASHL clubs doesn’t work

Can you get me a video of it so I can report this to the team? Also, did you try disabling and enabling icon passing again?
- Whart08Rising Novice
You have to reenable it in the settings

Nevermind gets disabled after every game….

Same here. Not working in club games for me either.
- EA_AljoCommunity Manager
Try enabling it again.

Yep, did that. Every time I check it’s set to “On,” but it doesn’t work every game. Some games it does, and some it doesn’t. Speaking strictly club games. Haven’t played many drop-ins yet post patch.
