Still not done. Costing me games in Club matches at this point.
Yeah it wouldn’t be much of an issue of the R2/RT passing went where you’re aiming. Sometimes it erratically goes in another direction. Extremely disappointed that this thread is from 3 months ago and this problem still hasn’t been fixed.

So far, I've never experienced this. If my pass goes in a wrong direction, it's because I accidentally aimed there. It's very uncommon my pass goes where I don't intend it to. However, I've also never used icon passing and have always used manual passing. If you're newer and used to icon passing, less accurate manual passes might happen more frequently.
As far as icon passing goes, it still works. They just don't show up. I understand the frustration with this. It might be good to practice manual passing for this situations where you can't rely on knowing which player is which button. - deadman99996 months agoSeasoned Hotshot

To say this is a little frustrating because at launch it was working fine....... If this was FC or Madden it would have been fixed by now

The R2 passing can be very inconsistent at times in WOC, to say the least. To say it never happens and solely depends on which way you’re facing the joystick is not correct. I’ve primarily played defense since EASHL was first introduced over 15 years ago in like NHL 09, so I’ve made quite a few passes and outlet passes up the ice over the years to be able to distinguish when it seems that something isn’t working the way it should. Maybe it is dependent on other factors I’m not aware of, like stamina remaining, but I have definitely had many erratic passes when aiming the exact same way I just did previously for a pass that was perfectly clean right to my teammate.I also get that icon passing “still works,” but that’s not the point, and isn’t acceptable for a bug like this to still persist this many months later. I don’t think it’s much to ask for a feature that is supposed to be in the game to work the way it should?

I've been playing D in EASHL since day one back with NHL 09 as well. So, I've made a few passes. Back when we had the controller overlay, I could always see where my aim was off. Unfortunately, we don't have that now so we can definitively tell. It's been my personal experience that the vast majority of my passes hit their target. When they don't, I can tell my aim was a little off.
Your passing rating helps with accuracy. You also can adjust the online pass assist setting. That should be at 100% otherwise there's a bigger margin for error.
I don't have any updates on icon passing at the moment. We'll have to wait for a future update to see if it's addressed. - KidShowtime18676 months agoHero

I disagree with this. I think more fidelity has been added by the engine being upgraded through various console/controller generations and there's slightly more responsibility on the player to be more accurate, but to say passing is "very inconsistent" is simply not true.
However, it seems to be true for your experience. I don't doubt that. It might be worth it to consider why your passes are so errant so often.
It would be nice to have control visuals back so we could ascertain how wildly we may be aiming LS and subsequently adjust to eventually have more precision and control, but alas.. here we are.
So, we're left to tinker with the online pass-aim assist to find the sweet spot. It might be that you have it set at 100% and you're attempting to perform precision passes - and you may even have the aim perfect - but at 100% assist, the game may instead decide to pass to the closer teammate in the path of this hypothetical pass situation.
for '25, I honestly started with pass aim assist at 0% to see just what it feels like. I increased the assist until I found a sweet spot where I could make precision aims without the game making a decision for me (for the most part) while retaining accuracy on longer stretch passes where my aim may not be perfect.
If passing is this big of an issue, I highly recommend taking the steps above to find the sweet spot with pass aim assist based on your passing style.

So again, then tell me how identical passes in the same exact situations don’t always go the same direction? You can’t honestly say that 1000 out of 1000 passes will always go the same. I’ve had numerous situations where I’ve gotten a faceoff in the defensive end on the same side of the ice, my teammate is skating straight up the ice, joystick pointed exactly the same in both instances, yet one goes right to him and one goes off the wall out of his reach for an icing. Literally no difference in the situation whatsoever, yet the pass result is vastly different.I’m also not saying passing is an “issue” to where I need to go into practice mode and hone my game there, but I’ve definitely noticed inconsistencies. Icon passing was especially helpful with the stretch outlet passes, and it is definitely frustrating that this feature has not worked visually for 3+ months now.

I would wager pass assist is causing your inconsistency. Try knocking it down to 50 and work your way up using this scenario as a test.

Icon passing is easily one of the best things added to the game in recent memory. People who don't use it or don't like it just haven't adopted the tactic into their fast-twitch reflexes. It takes a conscious effort to use icon passing and often times, players just fall back to what they know when playing a particularly sweaty opponent.
That said, there's a HUGE payoff for becoming skilled at icon-passing. The accuracy buff alone is enough to warrant the time investment in getting the hang of it, but once you've mapped out in your mind where your icons are on the ice - putting together a sick passing play becomes as simple as a button combo. Yes, this could be accomplished with regular passing but the accuracy of icon passing and the speed of icon passes makes it much more fluid.
In sincerely hope EA fixes it and brings it back. From what I recall, it's a simple rendering issue causing the icons simply not to appear above players' heads. So the functionality hasn't been broken. Just seems odd it hasn't been fixed yet but we get new jackets for the trainers on the bench the instant it's changed in real life.
