As an offline only player I find it fluent and a huge upgrade to how it has been. The movement and options it opens up for defence is beneficial for myself and the AI. It's sad to see how it's being utilized online, but don't feel that alone should warrant it to be removed.
Ya cuz we know offline you use the feature in a realistic fashion but online kids literally abuse it, and when you abuse it the mechanics of the game get exposed to allow these individuals to break literal physics to get around you. They do this stop start, unrealistic player movement to expose your defensive player.
Very unrealistic,

Yes, that is the key issue here. It's how the player base uses it. Overall the mechanic isnt broken per say but if it's over used then it becomes an issue. It's the same for the D to D one tee green shot - online it seems to be broken but offline with high difficulty and catered stats + not using an all star type team like you would have in HUT, it's not OP at all. I'd say it's closer to 70 - 30 or 60 - 40 depending on the team and player.
I do play a very realistic hockey experience and I find that the AI is actually not bad for it either in the game ( not perfect at all but better). Plus the new L2 movement combined with the better powerplay set up, actually allows me to set up a powerplay for the first time in probably 5 - 6 years of NHL games.
