You're right, but after seeing this gameplay footage, I think it's obvious why they didn't want hardcore players dissecting it.
I'm still holding out hope that this was filmed when the game was still in alpha or beta and there've been a ton of additions since this build. But if so, it begs the question as to why this was our first look at raw gameplay.
Did they say anywhere when this was filmed?

I don't believe so. The only hint I've gathered is that this was possibly filmed the same day the Hughes brothers did all of their EA media and some media from that was included in the NHL 25 reveal about a month ago. So it's possible they're playing an old build of the game.

It has to be an old build based on the giant circle shadows indicating an open one timer guy vs the tiny targeting circle we saw in the actual gameplay deep dive. If they did in fact do it when the EA media cover shot was then that had to be months ago. Either way, not telling the guys how to do some of the new stuff in the game means that you get poor gameplay that only hurts sales and does little to help them.
