The game looks similar to previous versions. That happens pretty much every year. I think the changes with gameplay are going to be where it feels like a new game though. I'm looking forward to you all getting your hands on it Friday.
There was nothing shown in this other then A streamer and 3 dudes who clearly dont know how, and dont want to play this game. I understand you are hammering down we need to play it to feel the difference. Honestly if it was played by people who cared, those things might have been shown off as they would have went out of their way to do those things. I dont care that things look similar, its hockey, but this gameplay was not good, and the scoreboard without team logos and just a big EA logo looks childish and egotistical, The EA logo is already everywhere.
Was this meant to replace the presentation Deep dive?

That's the thing, if this was just one of many videos showing off the game, it'd be more forgivable and more of a mass marketing video to catch people's eyes cause of the Hughes' brothers. But it's not one of many. It's the only gameplay we've gotten so it's being treated like a deep dive when that probably wasn't the intent.
The marketing for this game has just set it up for failure. Even the franchise deep dive, by far the best piece of content we've gotten, showed an extreme reliance on the conversation mechanic, which is probably one of the worst mechanics in the game the past couple years.

Agreed 100%. Hughes bros were good sports in filming this so early on, but why was this not released a long time ago? And it should have been followed up with more gameplay videos with some of us streamers who actually play the game. Get some more looks at various changes and some insight as to what people feel have actually been noticeable changes.

Pretty much every single year we've shown gameplay, the general consensus is that it's a copied and pasted NHL 15, 16, 20, etc. Chances are good that's not going to be the case when you actually get your hands on it. It's very easy to judge the game based on watching someone play. It's a whole different thing to actually play it yourself. You also have to keep in mind not everyone plays the same way. Especially when it comes to varying levels of skill/experience.
It also takes time to adapt to the changes that come with each new game. Watching these same people play after spending a dozen hours with it is probably going to be a lot different than watching them play it for the first time. They'd be using the new skating mechanics better, adjusting to the AI players, getting down the new one timers, etc. Not to mention, 2 humans on the same team take time to build chemistry. So, hopefully, you all can keep an open mind and find out for yourself rather than base whether or not the game is good on watching someone else play a single game. I imagine if you all laced up the skates and hit the ice with the Hughes brothers, it'd take some time to get up to their level ;)

I get what you’re saying. There have been plenty of times where I have gotten my hands on a game and it felt way better than it looked on pre-release. This game may very well be the best version of NHL in a long time.I think you’re missing the general consensus that everyone is really confused as to why this is the only gameplay we’re being shown. Even a video where it’s just a couple of the devs playing showing off some of the new features would have been much more informative than watching this video. We are only a few days away from deluxe release and it’s almost like you guys don’t even care if people buy the deluxe version or not. It’s just really weird.
