Thank you for this!
This is absolutely infuriating. When I'm at home, I want to see what line the CPU is putting out so I can match them. I don't want 2 seconds to pick my line before some annoying screen wipe locks in what I whatever I was on when it locked, and then to see the visitor CPU team put out a line that will crush my forced choice.
How Home Ice Advantage is absolutely not a thing in and NHL game is beyond baffling to me.

Yup.. replying to my own post... LOL
I realized that that post was just negativity, so I decided to come back with something constructive....
What I'd like to see in terms of line changes is instead of trying to frantically cycle through choices with a limited time (that screen wipe "whoosh" that I hate so much), is when the player holds the button to change lines/strategies, the game holds off on advancing - while that button is held, just cycle through random shots (the bench, goalie taking a drink, crowd being pumped up, etc.) and don't advance until that button is released.
Also, instead of frantically cycling through choices (with the potential of pressing the button too many times in a panic) simply assign each line/strategy choice to x, y, b, a. The player presses the corresponding button once to select, and then a second time to lock in their choice. When they release LT/RT, the game advances to the faceoff.
That just seems to me like a more enjoyable and relaxed way to strategize.

I love it when the computer ignores your call for a line change and runs your guys until they are totally exhausted and KEEPS running them
