ONE TIMERS BOIII

Dear EA,

You're no doubt going to receive some complaints about the new "perfect release" one-timers being "OP" when the full release of NHL25 arrives. What I'd like to say is that you shouldn't change them too drastically. It's very satisfying being able to score off of good passes across the ice as opposed to having goalies make miraculous saves 75% of the time.

Now, one area where they could be TUNED is when they're coming way out from the point. In this case, it seems like even unskilled defensemen (with low shooting attributes) can score on unscreened one-timers as long as the release is "green." So, if you're going to capitulate and tune one-Ts to be less powerful, I'd recommend just tuning it so that only the top players can score cleanly from the point (if anyone).

TL;DR: I LIKE scoring with the new one-timer system. If you tune, make it so that unskilled skaters can't take advantage of the "green release" buff. Also, perfect one-Ts from the point might need SLIGHT tuning.

  • I agree if the low players are able to get the one timers  as easy what is the reason anyone will be making improvements to their roster

The new onetimes system is great on paper, but the implementation is kinda flawed. At least with my experience. I have currently scored 2:1 with failed one timers versus the green releases, maybe even more. This has been due to the puck bounces or had unpredictable trajectory making it hard for goalies to catch. This adds to realism, but maybe wasn't intended. Maybe this will be fixes and the failed one-t will miss the goal more often, than add only a variable to it.

  • The problem I have with the new one-timer system is that it appears if you trigger one perfectly, the goalie state seems to adopt the same state as if the team was under full pressure. Meaning; for a split second, the goalies seemingly don't understand how to stay on their feet and flop around. IMO, this is currently why they're OP.

Please don’t change the one-timers. I just played a top 20 player and didn’t allow a single one against. People only complaining because they refuse to adapt and learn how to defend them. It’s less effort to complain here because they fully believe y'all are going to cave. Please don’t cave.

I'm usually the first one to make this claim, but when it comes to one-timers, OP is right about the ones from the point being particularly money and should be tuned accordingly.

I think the issue that will happen here is how to do determine or judge the change based off offline and online. I agree that they are not happening often when I play offline and with AI covering more man to man you don't have as many openings to get one.

So I agree the goalies don't seem to be as responsive when it comes to the point shot goals but for me as an offline player they don't seem overall and have some of the green point shots saved or blocked. SO it is not a guaranteed goal.

I have seen for the online side of it that it seems to be way to overpowered and being used so often in games (other content creators saying the same for certain online modes).

My issue is that it ignores attributes when its green.  Even low-end AHL defenseman can shoot it 120 mph with high accuracy if it's green.  They shouldn't be able to one-time it just as well as Ovechkin.

Yes, I definitely feel that attributes should play a huge part of how it affects the power and accuracy of those one timers no matter if you green it or not.

I know for offline play I have greened some and the shots were either stopped or blocked, I can't say any missed outright when it was green. Ultimately, I can't tell you who shot them (the ones that were either blocked or stopped), so I can't judge it based on their shot power and accuracy stats.

I am using Utah in franchise mode and playing each game, so I know overall I don't have many high stat players so that could affect it too. Whereas, if you play HUT or something where you can stack a team full of high 80's+ that could easily make the affect of the green shots more automatic and seem OP? Just a thought...
