First off, sadly the more arcade feel is due to the online portion of the game - 3v3, 6v6 and that don't work like traditional hockey, as its just pond hockey - so you need arcade aspects to make it more enjoyable for those modes.
I think that the pressure system is good (at least for an offline player), as it can simulate a live hockey experience, with pressure being used when a team is stuck in their zone for an extended amount of time, its usually how they have implemented it. The base premise works but there are issues with the build up, which was mentioned in here.
