Scoring
Backhand, forehand, backhand, goal. I feel trying to make good plays and set up 1T shots, or anything else just seems far less effective than just backhanding for every goal.. it's sad that it can ev...

Apparently not though.
So is this the goal you're currently mad at scoring?
Yes, this is the problem, good video! I will say the defense could have better positioned, could have made a better play. However, the other problem is that the goalies here in most cases should be able to hug that post and hold it. In the real NHL these goals happen if hes too aggressive or drops too quickly, but it's just too often here and if it is a two on one there is just no good option to defend this. Take away the 1T they backhand, take away the backhand they 1T. The goalie should be expected to hold the post if the offensive player is pulled that far. At that point the defensive player did his job in shutting down the biggest threat.
Edit: i was at work before so quickly answered while on lunch. Both of these actually look like forehanded goals (not that its a huge deal.) The first video is a good example of the defender playing the situation "mostly" correctly. The goalie was helped by the defender ushering thebforward to take a bad angle shot. The goalie had a narrow window of threat and should have a routine save, albeit these goals are sometimes scored at any level. The second video I can understand a goalie getting beaten even in the NHL. The defense was actually beat here. The goalie had to respect the forwards ability to take it far side. He broke down a hair early but had to when he expected a possible backhand to thenfar side. The biggest issue I have is when there is almost no threat of a far side attack but the goalie still twitches off his post or breaks down too quickly/ far from the crease when a forward takes it back forehand or backhand (depending on the situation) the game almost plays off of our button presses too quickly and too literally (if that makes sense)
Typically the goalies play the forehand far better than the backhand in this game. They over exaggerate the far side threat when in close, over exaggerate the far side threat when you're further out. I play center a lot of times and will try to play near side when in close and far side when the puck heads out to the point, if I'm not already covering someone in the slot. Each game had changed my tendency and where I cover depending on what the cheese goals are that year.
Cheese goals are always gonna happen in a game vs cpu goalies but I think they can be mitigated some if there were more options for goalie behavior. In hockey you often hear the goalie communicating with the defense as to what threats to eliminate. This allows him to play his game and focus on the threat he wants. I believe if we had options/ stratgies/ or thresholds for goalie behavior (maybe even similar to A.i. skater options for cpu strategies we could better strategize how we want to play defense. In that first video if there was an option to over protect the weak side or hold their post he would have done a good job at defending the pass and the goalie could jlhave shut down the near side threat. Of course if there was an unguarded trailing forward that he could have passed back to and he elected to go far side it would be an easy goal. I'm not looking for a goalie to bail anyone out, he should have holes, just expected holes. Holes that make sense.
