Venting: How to beat puck raggers?
Just came across the most PATHETIC online versus player after going 42-1-1 so far. The game was going fine with back and forth action when suddenly he hopped on the mic and said "Stop turning away from every interaction (ie: HIT) you insert many bad words here." He was apparently angry that I was... dodging his hits? He was the type to immediately RUSH at my puck carrier and try to destroy them as soon as they got the puck so of course I was FORCED to turn away and avoid his hits... that's common sense, right?
To get to the point: he ended up scoring an ultra-lucky goal at the end of the 1st period (unscreened wind-up slapshot from the point.. not even a one-timer) and then for the rest of the game whenever he got the puck, he would pass it back into his zone and play keep away until I overcommitted to him. He would even bring it into my zone and then dump it back into HIS zone. The ultimate cheese.
As everyone knows, when you overcommit to puck raggers like this, they are able to exploit that and find open ice to skate in. He ended up scoring 2 more goals this way and I just quit out because it was pointless.
What's the strategy against fools like this? Let them burn clock until the anti-ragging slowdown effect kicks in? I'm not sure that's the best play...
Of course, I check the dude's leaderboard afterwards and he's a scrub that's like barely over 500 at 50 games played. Gross.
